I really don't get how I play sometimes.

At the turn I was 15+, played the first nine holes like a total muppet. Slicing and shanking from fairway to fairway.

I get to the 10th tee and hit the ball onto the green on a 305yrd par4, fluff the eagle putt but sink the birdie chance. I then par the next 7 holes and finish up with a bogey on the 18th after a wayward tee shot. WTF! I didnt change a single thing.

Golf can such a funny game at times!

A similar story for me today. It was Captains day, so an 18 hole stableford followed by 9 hole Texas scramble after lunch.
I finished 2nd from bottom (out of 80 people) in the morning with 22pts, total nightmare. I then proceeded to play immaculately in the Scramble and carried my group around with big drives (and in the fairway) accurate approaches and holing out well for a -3 gross, net 26 finishing 3rd.
Thats why I love this game. I can be the most hopeless hacker, and the hero both on the same day.

It really is stupid. 11 points to the turn in the last round of the challenge yesterday. Par at 10 and then single points at 11 and 12. Stood on the 67th hole and made par and played the last six holes (having played 36 consecutively) in par. I haven't played well for months and suddenly I have four rounds in the 30's. I beat my handicap once, one in the buffer zone and a 32 and 31. I hit the first 3 times out of 4, birdied the 15th twice. The only holes I didn't par all day were the 7th, 12th and 16th which are the three hardest according to their SI's on the course. What betting I'll have a mare in the stableford tomorrow

Tell me about it. Even to the turn. Then 5 over on the back. I have shot 5 over par for the last 5 rounds. It's annoying.

Yeah that must be really frustrating playing to 2 under your h'cap 5 times on the spin :D

It's a stupid game and I reckon the 10th tee is the biggest psychological influence on any round. I know if I'm playing badly I look to the tenth tee as some kind of refuge place where my game will change and if I'm playing well I'd rather the 10th tee didn't exist.

The number of times my round has changed for better or worse after 9 holes is incredible.

I'm desperately trying to not think about a round as 2 9's but as a series of shots but the 10th tee seems to have a hold over me.

Looks like everyone has something in common! :(
I had 17 points turning playing well and scraped 11 off the back 9....WTF.....Is the only phrase to describe it

Thats the story of my game last week i was +1 gross after 10 holes with a double on 9 and finished 11 over and the week before 38 for the front nine and 47 for the back ,the worst thing is i came 4th in the comp last week only 3 shots back and seventh the week before, just waiting for it to come together. :D

Blowing quite hard in the medal yesterday, hit two two’s and yet I struggled to get it round in 77. That’s why we keep coming back.

By the way, it's a strom blowing up here in scotland.

Same here in the Emerald Isle pal.....Its a good job we got out yesterday and even that was tough in the wind also.

That must be sheer torchure playing off 5.

But then is this not hte typical mindset of some golfers (me included)

in that case instead of thinking

another round 2 under my h/c
its...
i dropped 5 shots on the back nine.....

realisticall you have only really dropped 1.5 shots on the back nine in relation to your h/c, you just saved 3.5 on the front nine.

Im rapidly trying to convert myself into a "glass half full" golfer not " glass half empty with a hole in the bottom"
