At the range today

Seen Chris Kamara at my local range a few times (next door to Bolton's training ground, so he pops in if he's doing any filming for Sky there).

At my club we used to have Phil Jones & Grant Hanley (he might still be there) as members. Plus some lad called Nick Dougherty.

My old club used to have most of the Wigan RLFC team as members. Andy Farrell with a 4i in his hands is like seeing a gorilla with a match stick.

I popped to the range to whamoo a few drives this morning and, it shows how old I'm getting, but apparently I was hitting in the next bay to the singer from Keane, by goodness he could cream a ball and hits there most days. Razor Ruddock is a regular there too
Any "celebs" where you go?

I remember reading about him - he took up golf during his drug rehab if I recall correctly? Similar to Alice Cooper!

The only relatively famous person I have seem down at my local range is James Gaskell, was captain of Sale Sharks RUFC and now plays for Wasps, as also England Saxons captain once I do believe. Also went to school with the chap. 6ft8 and built like an american style fridge freezer, that lad hits a long ball.

Point of order!

Ian Wright = South London and Proud.

Unless your claiming Arsenal are a South London side like Spurs claim you are???

Is that the same Spurs club that tried to move to South London?

(Only slightly) more seriously, I've never really bought in to this South London v North London divide. It's just London. It's (mostly) all good.

Having said that, I would of course love it if Arsenal were based nearer to me in Beckenham.

And as a last aside from my ramble, I believe Ian Wright took up golf at...Beckenham Place Park. Another reason why Lewisham Council shouldn't close it...

John Robertson used to play at our course with his father in law. You don't know who he is I know, but in Edinburgh he was a hero to half the city!

I didn't realise half of Edinburgh was supporting Nottingham Forest in the 1980 European cup final when he scored the winner :):)

Or do you mean the other one ...

Another thread I am not qualified to comment on, just like the Premier league one.

Ooops I just have.

Not at the range but played The Grove last year and our 4 ball waved through the 3 ball behind. When they passed us it turned out to be a blonde woman playing with Tim Sherwood and Les Ferdinand. Watched them tee off on the next hole and Les Ferdinand hits a decent ball. Sherwood didn't seem very happy but Ferdinand gave us a smile and a thank you for letting them play though.

Seems like most of the posts are about footballers, which is strange to me, because I deal with them every week I don't really consider them as celebrities - most of them are good guys and very ordinary away from their job.

I've played golf with a couple of reasonably well known footballers - I'm friendly with Gavin Rae who played for my team Dundee, Rangers, Aberdeen, Cardiff and Scotland - he was a fair bit younger at the time and was awful at golf, he's apparently much better now (single figures).

I met a visitor on the course at my old club, Alford and we played the last few holes together, turned out to be Willie Wallace who won the European Cup back in 1967 - Celtic had just built the Lisbon Lions stand at Parkhead and had invited the whole '67 winning team to the opening - they paid for his flights home from Australia and he used the opportunity to have a golf tour around Scotland - nice guy.

Monifieth has a few current and former footballers and managers living in the area, most of whom are members at one of the three clubs - my mate (who's a Dundee United fan) got beaten 10 and 8 by then Dundee boss Jocky Scott who's a member at my club.
