Played 13 holes today - first golf since being stymied by a. the snow and b. tennis elbow. Didn't burn it up, but just happy to get out there, and no reaction with the elbow so far. :) :) Playing Prestatyn tomorrow with 11 other lads on an away day. Hope the weather stays fair.

I managed a few holes yesterday...stepped onto the 1st tee and it started raining, stuck with it played 9 then spent 40 mins practising chipping....nice to get those cobwebs off, course was in surprisingly good nick...and we had a snowman still behind the 3rd green

I managed a game yesterday and the day before. Great to be hitting a ball again after that 7 week layoff.

Tuesday was just a warm-up round, getting used to holding a club again! Craigentinny was a bit of a quagmire and tested the shoes and waterproofs to the max but I was encouraged by some good driving and irons which resulted in the first two birdies of the year.

Yesterday the conditions were far better so I decided to go for a score and managed a 73 around a fairly simple par 67. 3 better than my handicap. I even hit a couple of the best 2 irons of my life on the very long par 3's and drove two of the short par 4's. If it hadn't been for the bobbly greens I may not have missed so many short putts and had a very good score indeed.

Perhaps my swing has "rebooted" after that long layoff. Personally I think it's just a result of finally selling my house after 18 months on the market. The stress which caused last year's terrible golf may have subsided at last. It was great to have a round worry free again after so long.

Amazing how a little swing thought and a clear mind can radically change your game. I had been getting the club trapped behind my body all last year which meant that I didn't hit a drive I was pleased with for 12 months. They were low and skittery and I was topping a quarter of them.

Over the winter break I looked at some notes from an old lesson which meant I gave myself far more room and speed through the ball yesterday resulting in a lovely flight to the ball and those good long shots. Long may it continue. The year is young.
