Scored my personal best in a competition yesterday.
2 over gross featuring 1 eagle, 3 birdies and a triple bogey.

I've been saying for a while now that if the weather is kind & I manage to drive well, hit decent approaches &, more importantly for me, putt well I will do some damage.

Anyone else been in that position lately where you know you could do well but have severely struggled?

Hopefully Bob.
The putting has improved no end - only took 28 yesterday.
Of course the chip in on the par 5 2nd helped that no end.

Well done.

Most of last season I struggled off the tee in the last 5-6 holes after putting too much pressure on myself knowing that Im had a really good score in me. Late last season carded a +2 gross round with a back 9 of -1 which gave me confidence. 1st medal this year was a couple of weeks ago and shot +3 gross with a double and a bogey in the last three holes but still delighted. Shooting under 75 is a learning process and I reckon you've got to get in the habit of doing it so you can cope coming down the last few holes.

Cheers guys.

Albanach - I must admit I was shaking a bit on the 18th tee. But I still decided to cut the corner and, although a little safer than normal, was chuffed not to go in the water or OOB. I even finished up birdieing the last with a nice 20 footer.

Depends on CSS I suppose!

Apparently our SSS was checked recently.
They sprayed a yellow dot in the fairway on each hole, 260 yds from the white tees and assessed the hazards, width etc at that point. The Union will now decide if our -1 SSS should change.
