Okay - I've just been down to the pro shop and purchased three nice little souvenir items to offer up to forumers as prizes in a fun Asian Amateur Championship competition. The event takes place from Thursday to Sunday this week over the New Course at Singapore Island Country Club, and the format is 72-hole strokeplay just like a regular tour event.

To be in with a shout, all you need to do is have a stab at what you think the winning 72-hole aggregate score will be, followed by a tie-breaker based on the number of letters in the winner's name!

I appreciate your knowledge of Asian amateur golf may be a little sketchy, but this is just a bit of fun really. Although tour events have been played at this club, I don't think they've been on this particular course, however, to help a little...

* The New course measures 7,136 yards and is a par 72
* Last year's winning score was 269 (15-under on a par 71 course in Japan)
* 2009's winning score was 276 (12-under on a par 72 course in China)
* Weather conditions are likely to be humid with little breeze
* Players I've spoken to say the rough is thick and that accuracy is the name of the game

As for the tie-breaker, we won't include the spaces between first and second names etc, just the number of letters in their names - it seems the shortest is a mere 5 characters, while the longest is a whopping 28.

Good luck - you can follow the scores (and check out the average name length!) via the tournament website - http://www.asianamateurchampionship.com

Entries close at midnight tonight, and I will get in touch with the three winners some time next week when I'm fully de-jetlagged (if such a word exists)...

Yes, sorry - just enter on here please for this one.

With regard to scores, for ease of going through them later can you give the four-round total rather than how many under or over par. Bill, I'll make an exception for you and do the maths - 288-11 = 277, I believe!

Cheers

279 strokes (-9 to par) to win.

The winner will have 15 characters in his name.

I have written his name in an envelope, to be opened when he wins to prove I did this by skill and judgement! :rolleyes:

Thank you boss , your a legend :D :D

There is one guy from India just listed on the player sheet as 'Honey'. Even the organisers aren't 100% sure of his correct name, though apparently it's down as 'Honey Honey' in other correspondence (parents were big Abba fans apparently!)

Anyway for our purposes here, if you think 'Honey' will win, I'm officially designating him as a 5-character name for this comp...
