Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger has admitted Arsenal need someone who can get in the way of any shots, has a large physical presence and can help out whenever another player makes a meal of it...

They've signed Adele.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was in the pub when a man in a wheelchair rolled up to me and said, "Arsene Wenger tried to sign me for Arsenal today"

I said, "Is he bleedin' stupid?"

He said, "I know .. as if I'd sign for that bunch of crap
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The rise in Global Warming means that in a few years time the whole of Belgium could be under water.
But on the bright side that would leave an extra Champions League place open for Arsenal. Every cloud...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arsenal's defence has more holes in it than Oscar Pistorius' bathroom door.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since Arsenal are being made into European mincemeat, can we expect to find them in our burgers next week?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have you heard about Arsenal's player of the year award?

Apparently, it's another roll over.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As far as second legs go I fancy Heather McCartney is more equipped to win than Arsenal.

Possibly something about parting of the ways and mutual consent etc - I would be very surprised if arsene is still the boss on 17 March

I wouldn't be surprised as the fans on this thread alone have shown no matter what level of mediocrity he is now guiding the team toward they are happy to let him feed at the big table off of former glory.

Surely not all fans can think that though and the board must be getting bored of his excuses

But are the board real football fans or just businessmen looking at the bottom line?

Chase at Norwich and Ellis at Villa ran a very tight ship, sold good players, made good money on them but languished mid-table most of the time as they were selling clubs, is that the future for Arsenal?

Clearly the board are looking at the financial ramifications of moving from highbury to the emirates, and massive ticket prices and players sales is balancing the cost of a stadium, but what's the point in such a great venue if there's nothing being won which will bring new fans to fill it.

I've got my kids down this weekend and wanted to take my boy to see the might Rovers take on arsenal in the cup at the weekend as there were still away tickets available but the price they were charging for away fans put me off. So I'll be taking him to Ewood park toward the start of next season and maybe to see a us against a smaller London team when we play them.

If arsenal are going to continue to up ticket prices and sell best players then the fans should be demanding more from Arsene and Arsenals board.

Not all the fans are happy with mediocrity, patience is wearing very thin! I've been a very keen supporter of AW but I think it is time to move upstairs before the stairs become too much of a challenge! There's only so long you can sell your best players and stay in the upper echelons of Europe/Premier League!

Time for a change? If it's not here already it's getting mighty close!

How mediocre is it though really?

In contention for every competition (inc champions league) for the last 16 years. A massive achievement and I say it again if it wasnt for super spenders Man U, Chelsea and City we wouldnt be talking about a 8 yr trophy drought most likely 4-5 more PL titles for AW.

Its not living in the past we are still going to qualify for the CL this year as well - hardly a failure and hardly a crisis. The guy is an absolute legend.

I can see AW spending big in Summer and next year we will be once again competiting on all 4 fronts. In some ways he is a victim of his own success. What has David Moyes won in the past 10 years at Everton? Are people calling for him to be sacked? How many times has he won qualification to the CL?

The media and non-Arsenal supporters (some Arsenal fans with short memories) are trying their best to oust Wenger but hopefully the board will offer him a new contract.

With the exception of the Champions League, EVERY football club is in contention for every competition at some period of time.

More like, if you didn't continually sell your best players who went on to win trophy's elsewhere you may have been more successful.

Are you his love child :mmm:

And if history repeats itself, not winning any and then start selling those players. Who are you going to sell to make this spend happen when your wage bill is already 2.75m a week?

He's succeeded very well over the last 8 years hasn't he, Oh yes I forgot, by being in contention! I personally think if David Moyes had the access to your wage bill and some of the players you have had and have, he would be getting much more out of them and you'd have something to show for it over the last 8 years.

I can see nothing changing whilst he is at the helm, he even looks and acts like a beaten man and is starting to snap at reporters making a fool of himself.

Long may it continue.

There's an argument at the moment that best thing that could happen to Arsenal long term is that we miss out on qualifying for the Champions League this time round as it might just give AW and the board a kick up the arsenal and let them know that it's not a birthright! At the moment we haven't got the team to actually contend in the Champions League! If we manage to overturn a 3-1 deficit when we go to Munich I'll be the happiest sorry person on the forum!

Hopefully the rumours are true and Wenger will go to town on the transfer market in the summer, bring in some quality and cut some of the dead wood that's making our wage bill higher than a high thing despite our "wage structure"!
