Are you happy with 30 points?

Last Saturday played one over handicap. But had a 6 on a 3 with no shot, and CSS for day was +2 so I was cut 0.4.

Lesson for me is that I kept going even although I didn't think I was playing that well and had messed up 4 holes badly (two triples and two doubles) and so was very disappointed with myself. I didn't realise the rest of the 112 strong field was having a nightmare and my keeping going to stay within +2 of par was well worthwhile.

And out of the 112 field I was 7th!

Funny old game.

And would have scored 36pts stableford!

As a senior golfer in my declining years, I am delighted to score 30 points with the way the CONGU handicapping works (can only go up 0.1 at a time)! :)

I'm not. Think 32 I'd be ok with but it'd still see me missing buffer if I understand it all correctly....

Played my first comp yesterday and scored 28 with 2 (or 3) blobs so was annoyed I left those points out there - that said I'll struggle to play to my new and first ever handicap so won't be losing any kip over it.

I had 30 this weekend. I had 4 nightmare holes where I didn't score.

So I effectively scored 30 from 14 holes which I'm well chuffed with. If I can just focus on keeping it in play on my bogey holes and score on every hole, I know I can get a more respectable score.

But then again golf is the easiest game after you've hit your shot / played the round.

Next week I might end up playing rubbish on 4 different holes!

Exactly - your handicap is your stretch ability - possibly based upon a flash-in-the-pan brilliant day - so not your usual avergae golf. And it takes time to get your handicap back to reflecting your average golf

NEVER !!!!!

Totaly personal opinion , 30 pts to me is playing rubbish , had 31 yesterday and couldnt buy a putt but putts were rolling well just lipping out or slightly missing ..

Nope, but I'm not going to cry into my beer either. It's just a score and I'm not losing anything apart from entrance money of a few quid... Would be interested in why I've left several shots out there however and would spend a few minutes thinking about that and if there's anything needed to practice specifically. Otherwise it's just onwards and upwards. 34+pts and I feel like I've played decent.

if I don't shoot 30 I have tried hard enough. I don't think its too hard to scrape it round handicap+6. can be tough in a medal but you should be able to grind out 30 points in stableford.

bad front 9? get you act together for the back 9 !!

30 is always the 1st mark , then its a 2 for the sweep , at the moment i am making mistakes its a good score as the rough is penal , sat i had 80 gross in the medal 74 net and my stableford score would have been 33 points with 2 no scores ...................EYG

Depends on how I have made 30.

If I have started off great guns and lost it on the back nine then no (done this plenty of times and been looking at a cut only to blow up and loose it on the second 9)

If (like this weekend) I have had a nighmare start and managed to haul it back to 30 by getting par on the last 4 holes then yes - happy to reach 30.

Depends on where and when I'm playing. Friday or Sunday off the yellows then I'm happy because on both days I play from a reduced hc (fiddle days), On comp days I want buffer, but am not silly enough to expect it every time. When I'm out with the golf society then the scoring isn't important, it's more about different courses with good company. I never go out to play bad golf but sometimes, possibly too many times, it happens
