Are you embarrassed by your handicap?

There is a very simple solution.

Decide, in advance, that you wish to submit a Supplementary Score round.
Enter your intention to submit a Supplementary Score round, before play commences, in the book (or other means) which your club is obliged to make available.
Play the round, submit the card, and, hey presto, you have played a qualifier.
Play as many Supplementary Scores rounds as you wish.

Simples.

Exactly.

I have been told this by our handicap secretary when I tried to submit a card.

well my handicap secretary has been very understanding of me.

i informed him that i had been playing well below my handicap over this close season, so i went out with a senior member of the club and a member of the council and shot 6over gross through 18holes. and my handicap of 16 has now become a handicap of 13 :)

very pleased that he was understanding off me and was prepared to accept my case. i feel it was justified and looking to reduce your handicap is exactly what should be encouraged to stop banditry.

as i have posted on here a few times my recent rounds despite conditions have averaged over 20points per 9holes. i have won a number of comps over the past year but not enough to drag my handicap down to where i can shot 36points regularly.

ive no interest really in the comps(sound stupid as a club golfer) but i enjoy going out and playing good golf. i dont like worrying about being 8/9/10 under my handicap coming down the 18th fairway. its not fair on others how are playing off real precise handicaps andplay well to score 18/36 points.

so i know people will bash having your handicap reduced outside of a competition but i wont apologies for that i feel that i have increased the chances of others getting their fair shot a silverware and removed the bandit nonsense that hadnt but could have started to be aimed at me.

feel free to rip me to shreds :)

I think you have done a good thing Phil, credit to you

appreciated, i know some folks wont agree, but id rather play golf in peace than have snide remarks made about anyone. and as for reducing my chances of winning im happy with that, and if i do pick up a win here of there this season at least ill feel i have deserved it.

You done the correct thing.

What you done is in essence declaring to your intent to play a supplementary card.

Well done in getting cut
