Are there rules around arranging Forum meets?

I've noticed that the better (more expensive) the course is the bigger the response. Not sure why this is. There's some cracking courses around for under 30 notes.

A meet can be any size from someone looking for a partner in a particular location on a certain day, to meets with 100 plus and all things in between.

If you have something in mind, probably worth sounding out the venue first, they will tell you what days are best and give you an idea of numbers and cost

Then post up details here and ask for numbers, then go back with to the course and firm up

Good luck and well done, we need more meets

Sorry if this is a daft question or one that has been asked before, but are there rules around who can arrange forum meet ups?
Go ahead mate.I don't play that regularly and not been a member anywhere for a couple of years. I much prefer to play courses I haven't played before nowadays so like to do the forum meets and H4H.lots of courses I still want to play and anyone willing to organise a get together i would be keen. Big respect to those who do organise these as do take a lot of work and time.

From experience, organising the date, and venue is the easy part.
The hardest?
Getting people to pay on time. This leads to countless, (and I do mean countless), numbers of pleas, and private messages, some of which are responded to almost immediately, and some which are ignored completely.
Oddly enough, the first call for payments also tends to coincide with the first pull outs.
The only event I organise now is the Cooden meet, because this has traditionally been "pay on the day" and is much easier.
Good luck.

No rules and good luck organising one ?

Have organised plenty of forum meets over the years but have taken a break for a while as Covid turned into a nightmare.

A few tips.

Don’t take anything personal, be prepared to be messed about with payments, you will get people who say they will go then once you want money they will pull out, accept you will get late drop outs, look forward to the amount of ungrateful people out there who will moan at you, hell they may even Chuck a scorecard at you for good measure just to show how ungrateful they really can be ??

Apart from what I have listed above good luck and I look forward to seeing what you come up with ?

OP, hope to see you organising a meet. Meets can be great and really enjoyable. Just decide post up and hopefully will get takers.

I used to do big days for business, and what LQ says is the same as I experienced, no shows, moaners etc, but I let that flow over and enjoy the days.

One of the best things of such days are the memories they leave. Dont think I will ever forgot the view when we walk around the side at Sunningdale, was greeted by LQ and the view across the courses, that will live with me for ages. Some of laughs that I had playing on society days, just brilliant. Never forgot a long drive trophy that ended up as the shortest longest drive ever(only one person hit a tight fairway with a skied 100 yard driver)

Meets make memories.

Look forward to if you decide to arrange.

Thanks for the comments/advice. Lot to take on board, but I figure if I keep the headline figure small and ask for an early deposit the issues might be manageable. I think I have a decent course (well, it features in most every Top 100 in England list) albeit not with any "special offer", and in a part of the world usually well served for meets.
