Are the likes of Ashley Cole, Angus Deaton, etc, really scumbags?

Ashley Cole = unprintable.

I don't see how you can blame the wives. If you want to mess about, don't get married. If you are married, and it isn't what you want or expected, get a divorce.
 
I have to say that if it wsant for their skill at kicking a ball, hitting a ball, earning money, all of these guys would not have had the chance to meet such a standard of looker. Now some of the women might be melon twisters but if it was me, Id leave the person before I would do anything behind their back. Call me old fashioned but just because you have money, it doesnt give you the right to mistreat partners.

Bang on Brendy . its a respect thing & these guys esp the footballers are been hyped & glorified (sp) so much they believe they are better than every one else therefore show no respect for anyone including themselves .. they get these extra women because they have money & they are "famous" for want of a different word, and then they are suprised why they in turn go to the papers to get paid for their stories ..

They were married - they shouldn't have strayed - end of!!

Having said that, you never know what goes on in someone else's relationship. You don't know what rules/guidelines have been laid down. It could be an open relationship for all we know.

Also, with these top sportsmen/personalities, they've been getting women since they were 11 - easily - so, when they want to get married, how do we know that they've not said to their fiancee "Right, I'm world famous and a millionaire and I like sleeping around. I'm not going to stop sleeping around so either like it or lump it. I'll see you right for cash if you like it!!"

I hate Ashley Cole with a passion!! Palace tried to buy him for £1,000,000 back in 1999 and he said no!! Just think of the things he'd have achieved if he'd signed for us.. :D
 
Perhaps Cole was a bad example. Andrew Marr, Clarkson?

I have to say its a difficult one. I've made mistakes in my marriage and fortunately been able to get through it. Ordinary folk split up and divorce and get on with it and I guess it is only because these examples are in the media spotlight that it becomes an issue. If the marriage has broken down through infidelity or the relationship has run its course then let it be.

I don't like Cole or to be honest Cheryl either and think both have just become famous for being married to each other. I don't think Cole is that great as a footballer and is definitely a person I wouldn't trust to remain faithful in any relationship but how the partner (Cheryl or other) choose to deal with it is down to them. I think scum is too harsh though. That is something I'd tarnish the Bulger killer, Milly Dowlers killer and the Baby P regime with quite happily
 
I'll turn this on it's head and say that they are not scum whatsoever.

Are they not just a reflection of society? How many taxi drivers, binmen, teachers, lawyers etc etc have their bit on the side every weekend and treat their spouses like a steaming turd?

With fame comes the banal interest in what they get up to, if you're just a normal bloke it doesn't make the Daily Mirror does it? So who's to say they are acting differently from Joe Public?

How many footballers, actors, whatever Angus Deaton does, DO have happy marriages? I'd happily wager a bet that the VAST majority do, but that's not what we want to be reading about is it. Look at Beckham. He could have any burd in the world but has loyally stayed with with that pencil limbed pouting pratt Vicky (excluding the alleged de-panted sweaty tango with that woman who felt a pig up on channel 5)

Sure there are a few of them with a cemetery full of skeletons in the cupboard (hi Giggsy, you never called me back...) but you'll probably find percentage wise it's on a par with us normal 'uns.

I'm way too ugly and bald to cheat on my wife, and she's way to brutal to let me away with it.

Now violent wives- they are scum!
 
It seems wherever men end up they are still driven by the same basic instincts... Just others are better at controlling them than others.

I shall avoid going into any biological sciencey theory things....
