Are looks important?

I had to get rid of ping g10 irons as hated the chunkyness looking down on them, went great but just not right.

I didnt think much of white headed clubs but they have definitely grown on me and very happy aesthetically, even the R1 which looked just plain wrong when I saw pics looks damn fine at address and helicopters better than any driver I have owned ;)

looks are everything. I had a ghost spider, which has been the most effective putter I have ever had...truly great, however, every time I took it out of the bag, I hated the look of it....so got rid and got (what I think is) the best looking putter on the market at the moment. Absolutely love it and can find it just as effective as I love the look of it.

Looks are important. I bought my irons based on nothing other than the name on them and how they looked. Turns out I can use them a bit, which was lucky. The only club in my bag I don't like is my hybrid - hideous looking thing. I hit it well but I'd swap it in a heartbeat if I could find a AP2 3 iron to replace it with.

I think looks are important and install greater confidence at address, the most important time just prior to launching our balls into the distance.

Since changing my G20's & TourS irons to MP-52's & MP-T4's my handicap is coming down and I am more and more consistent with my scores. This I believe is because I do like looking down at my Mizuno's thin top line and makes me concentrate that little bit more, I never really liked what I saw with the Pings.

The top of my bag is now mixed, I like my Launcher 13* for driving and serves me very well, it has a nice black rounded small head, but, I now have 15* & 18* Adams LS Speedline fairway woods which have white heads with the slot on the top. Definitely something I wouldn't have chosen off the rack and are very much, work in progress. I need these to break the trend of looks first against performance.

Looks- No

Confidence- Yes

If looks inspire confidence then that's good, if you look down on a club and feel you have to manipulate it to hit a good shot then that is not good at all!

For me I cannot look down on big clubs bar the driver, I prefer to look down on something more compact.

Its all about the score for me. Piece of crap on the end of a stick for all i care, if the results are there then im happy.

I don't mind what clubs look like at all. As long as they go well, they are fine with me.

I had a set of McGregor Doctor X and some Ping Zings so there is the proof!

I just can't bring myself to hit fugly clubs. Maybe subconsciously I associate ugly with no club confidence.

Mind you, my Odyssey Sabretooth putter isn't the prettiest!

Looks are important at first glance as we all like to look at something nice and shiney. However I've come to feel the actual performance of something rather outweighs its pretty looks.

For so long i've tried sticking to putters that have a nice blade look and feel to them but my putting was always poor, I started using a cheap mallet to see how they felt and to prove to myself I don't need or like mallets. What happened was my consistency and distance control massively improved so I took the plunge and bought the TM Manta that resides in my bag now and will not be removing it. It's effectively just a big lump of white metal which isn't as pretty as my bladed putters that are now gathering dust but the feel and performance is all that matters.

Next up my do a homer and try the G25's.

There's been a few threads recently where a club has taken some stick for not being the best looker and many have said that looks don't matter, just performance..

Am I the only one who has to like the look of a club to be able to use it?

On this one I am 100% wioth you. If I don't think a club looks great or think it looks daft then I'll not bother even trying it out.
