Sorry for another has anyone played.........lately thread!

Playing Archerfield - Fidra on Sunday, anyone been round this recently, how is the course, any tips or advice??

Perry

its just grand
very easy to play - no hole is too long or difficult
front 9 treelined so stay straight!
back 9 more links like
greens are good - very true

make sure you get there hours early to pitch and chip those pyramids of balls!!

I last played it on 1 June -and i have another fourball to take - canny wait to go back! enjoy! ;)

Thanks Heidi, much appreciated. Didn't know about the little pyramids balls, sounds very posh!! Very much looking forward to it!
little pyramids of ProV1 practice balls no less - you just hit them and some lackie picks them up afterwards! there is a putting green, short game area, mid irons and grassy driving range - so make loads of time to use them. the club house is lovely - food is OK, nothing to write home about tho. Prices werent too stupid.

you get a rather snazzy stroke saver with water colour pics of each hole! and the starter should give you a sheet of paper with the pin positions (yards from front and side on it)

par 5 6th - stay straight but then go left for a shot into the green - you dont want to have to go over the pines! (i'll be following same advice next time i play too!)

Par 3 8th - bunkers are quite far from the green - very deceptive!
you have loads of room!

12th is the first hole with the links feel - dont go in the rough! keep left!

15th was my fave hole ;)

It's a shame it's so difficult to secure a round at Archerfield, cracking track by all means and I wonder if it would have the same attraction if it was more accessable?

Dunno.

doubt it - its the exclusivity that makes it special
if it was an ordinary course it would only be worth about 40 notes a round and it would be hacked to bits ;)

am waiting for the weather to settle down and book my fourball...canny wait!

I know thats what makes it what it is however it's worth way more than £40 a round as it's up there with all the courses in Scotland.
