Ruined what could have been my best round with some crappy approach shots today. Shot the first 9 in 41 and then wrecked it by finishing the back 9 in 52.

Driving was good, 1 putted 4 times and the rest were 2 putts. It was the approaches on the back 9 that ruined me - and not finding the greens on any of the par 3's.

So, anyone got any links or suggestions on approach shot practice drills?

any help appreciated.

Maybe try to focus on short game and chiping. Due to injury that's all I've been doing now.Couple ups and down would save you few pars.
Got lesson myself yesterday on pitching green and that's what I will be focusing for another 3-4 weeks before fully recover.

Sounds to me (without being harsh) that it's the pressure of a good score making you tight. If you want to practice, go to the practice ground/range and pick targets from 60-150 yards and hit 5/10 balls to each and keep a record of how many you hit on target but also record where your misses are. I would suggest there will be minimal long of target

thanks Homer, I think pressure may have played a role in it, hit some great shots on the back 9 but just couldn't convert them.

Ill give your your suggestion a go this week 👍🏻

From 100 yards in I always ensure my forward swing finishes high, it ensures you do not give in on the shot. Short backswing, long follow through.
