Updated my iPhone the other night to 11.0.3 and I have lost loads of my contacts!

Some have completely disappeared but mainly it's just the names and I'm left just with loads of numbers in history but I now no longer know who's calling me and I can't look anyone up where the name is now missing!!

I followed some YouTube videos to no avail but some contacts now have 'maybe' in front of them but are incomplete!

I've had Apple Support try to help through the Twitter messaging but they speak in gobbledygook and expect everyone to understand their techy speech and know how to navigate around everything uploading this & that!

A simple update has turned into a nightmare, anyone else experienced this and found a way to get their contacts back or can help, please.

I think the iCloud is set to back up automatically as it’s all enabled. I’ve since been onto the iCloud website and the contacts I regularly use are also not present and have disappeared!

With some things I’ve managed to do some contacts have returned but with the word ‘maybe’ in front of them but they are incomplete!

When searching for this issue on Google it’s a widespread problem 😡

Pay a visit to an Apple Store and get them sort it out?
I'm no Apple fan, but I know they are normally annoying helpful instore

It’s an issue in your settings.

Sign in to iCloud

Make sure update Apple ID settings has nothing next to it
Scroll down to contacts and ensure it’s ticked.

The contacts are there yours just aren’t syncing on this update.

Do you mean on my iPhone or on the website?

tell me about it!!!

spent 2 weekends Pruning the Orchard and it was a great success with all the trees covered in blossom in spring.. only to all get blown off most of the trees by high winds before pollination.

no where near enough good sweet verities to make a decent cider this year... a nightmare

So it's all Verity's fault!

She's probably high-tailed it over to Munich to serve Hacker-Pschoor Hefe Weisse for Oktoberfest!

@OP/Seriously.... Good Luck re-syncing everything! Don't panic! I'm sure it's still all there - just needs r-connecting!

I have my contacts in both google and Apple at the same time, it’s really cool.

No idea how I did it though...

Apple have had me look in their for some of the contacts I have missing, but they are not there!

I have/had over 600+ contacts, but whats confusing me a little is, when going into Google and looking at my contacts in each of the 5 emails I have, why are there different amounts of contacts, why aren't they are all the same quantity and shared across the email accounts?

As such, when I add a contact directly to my iPhone, how does it know where to put it in Google? I've never set anything up to sync in Google or anywhere TBH so it's doing all this itself so if I add or delete an email address do all those contacts associated to it disappear also, even though I never matched that number to an email account!?

not helpful, but every time i do an ios update, i always do a hard encrypted backup to itunes. (via laptop, none of this cloud rubbish!)

Oh and Never ever "upgrade" to anything that ends version .0.0 always wait!!!

On a serious note, Missis T got a txt off her mum at 11 pm asking her if she wanted any eating apples from the allotment.

It's quite a widespread issue when you search on Google, I've been on the phone with Apple Support for about an hour this morning doing all kind of changes, even deleting accounts and reloading them, which was scary!

There coming back to me this afternoon as I've been upgraded to the specialist team to get involved as everything we've done today has created some improvements but not all of them.

In 70% of my messages I only have numbers, I have to read them to get an idea of who that person or company is and then create a new contact from that message, its a pain in the 'arris! Recent calls are either the same just showing a number or saying it 'maybe' then the persons name, which is a Siri search, again I have to create a new contact from that!

Has anyone else done this update and had any issues?

It’s been fine on all four of our devices at home

Ensured everything was on the iCloud backed up ok then installed the update and everything was fine
