THis is just launched; unbelievable. Pages for £11.99 which is able to read and open MS Word files; Aperture 3 for £44.99 which is the same as Adobe PS (not elements) in terms of capability.

A great new way to buy software - if you have a Mac!!!

Alternatively, you could just use OpenOffice, which is able to read, edit and write all MS Office file formats, and GIMP which is just as good as PS.

The best thing about these is that they're free, and not specific to any platform.

I agree. I use as much free stuff as possible. Although I never really got on with openoffice on my windows laptop, I'm using it on my linux ubuntu netbook - very good.
