If i work Saturday and Sunday overtime i should be able to cover that ,have seen a lot of the Irish courses offering Over Seas life membership for between 4-6000Euro

I was offered life membership at my club for £17000, but at my age perhaps not a great deal.

Are there restrictions on that though I remember reading members at Augusta were only allowed either 6 or 4 rounds a year and the fee was a lot higher

Yeah, in the end that's what finally put the mockers on it for me. That and some big society do they have in April where they invite loads of old guys who hack it round. Course is completely closed, even the range. Bummer eh?
