anything unique about your course

At Aylesbury Park, we only have 4 bunkers,One on each of the 4th, 5th 6th & 7th.

A big chunk of the land is leased from the Hartwell Estate and they wont allow bunkers on their patch.

Anyone out there with fewer bunkers?

Royal Ashdown in West Sussex doesn't have any bunkers at all. Doesn't need any. It's as tough as old boots.

;)

Our course in on an area of pasture known as the Westwood.

Cattle graze on the Westwood from April to October. They keep the rough down and fertilise the course too. :D

We have protective fences around all our greens to stop them being trampled.

Free drop for dung and the option to replay your shot if you hit any part of the fence.

We also have a gallop across the Westwood which is much less used these days. It used to be in quite heavy use as there were a couple of yards which trained race horses and they used to thunder along the gallop which crosses several holes.

Ours has greenskeepers that like to sit 5 yards behind you engine running whilst you take your shot, then sit and take a call whilst you walk to the green, at which point it is imperative they mow the apron whilst the members putt out.

During the First World War and the famous war poets Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen convalesced at the Craiglockhart Military Hospital after having been injured and shell shocked on the Western Front. They both played over our course. We have a memorial plaque on the 7th hole which has extracts from Anthem for Doomed Youth and Sassoon’s poem Dream both composed at Craighlockhart.

We've got a couple of protected environmental areas which allegedly house some kind of rare newt

We've got these on our course which are GU blue staked areas, if your ball enters your'e not ment to go in and find it just play from ehere it enters.

Played at Luton Hoo and don't recall seeing any bunkers

Ours too unfortunately, sometimes feels like you have your own personal greenkeeper going round with you. Oh, and cutting a new pin position on the first at 10 in the morning FFS

This year we had a rabbit infestation. Once I counted 46 on the fairway of the 7th but so far I haven't heard of anyone hitting one.

On the plus side I can tell to my missus "do you want to go see the rabbits?" and I get a second round at the weekend while she's busy taking pictures of the "adorable" creatures...

RAF Laarbruch in Germany had a sign next to one of the tees which read GIVE WAY TO AIRCRAFT.
I dont mind following that instruction.

It was a stunning sight watching a fast jet taking off down the runway next to the hole your playing and flippin LOUD too

Only with a card in your hand, we have trees that lean out to grab your ball as it goes by. The same tress then chuck the ball into the deep rubbish behind them.

This contributes to the unwritten local rule:- When playing the course in a competition, fortune will be against you big style!
