After my winter league first round game yesterday, my partner reckons I would do much better with lighter irons (currently using Callaway X22s) and suggested the Cleveland CG16s would suit my game more. He suggested going to the centre at Maidenhead where they also cover the Srixon range. Anyone out there used their facility or can recommend Cleveland/Srixon irons?
I'm certain Home will have some first hand knowledge of the clubs and the centre. Anyone else who has any advice/suggestions?

I know Homer goes there. I have visted once and the set up looks good.

A work colleague went for a full fitting recently and was very pleased, said they did a very good job.

Be interested to hear how you get on, I was thinking about going there when then 588 wedges come out and get them fitted and see if they recommend a particular ball too.

Good luck.

New 588 forged wedges do look sexy, I could be tempted myself as I was a fan of the original 588 wedge.

It is probably a decent enough choice, but I wouldn't go just because your mate recommended lighter irons. There are plenty of light irons available, if that is what really suits you. Did he mean lighter absolute weight or lighter swing weight, by the way?

You might be better to go to a fitting centre that offers a range of choices, and you could also consider other brands - Callaway, Mizuno and TM all have fitting options (at various price points) near enough to Bracknell.

Here is the website but I think you have to book via the Srixon website. http://www.maidenheadgolfcentre.co.uk/CentreOfExcellence/tabid/248/language/en-GB/Default.aspx

As Ethan says, TM are at Basingstoke, Cally are at Chessington and there are a number of Mizuno fitting centres around including Leatherhead (Pachesham Park )and New Malden. The CG 16 is a lovely head and their stock shaft is much lighter than the KBS90 of the R11 or the Cally Uniflex. I am often down the Maidenhead range as it has great quality mats, decent Srixon practice balls and is nicely tucked away so you don't get loads of idiots playing silly buggers. Its golfers trying to find something that works. My ex teaching professional was based there too

I went there for a fitting a while back and Dean is very knowledgeable and helpful but I havent really got on with the CG16 I have on test.

I ended up going to Leaderboard Golf in Reading where I tried a few different options and think I'm going to go for the R11s in the new year.

I think that the fitting session is free at Srixon at the moment so no harm going there to see what you think.
