Played Muckhart, Kirkcaldy and Alloa Schawpark.

I would recommend both Muckhart and Kirkcaldy, Alloa was ok nothing special. Muckhart has 27 holes and is a revolving 18 hole layout. It was the two older 9 hole layouts when i played. The original 9 holes are the best. I would probably choose Muckhart over Kirkcaldy if i was forced to pick one.

I'm a member at Muckhart, and would wholeheartedly recommend it.
We have a new head greenkeeper. Last year the greens were fantastic, better than some "big" courses I played such as Rosemount, Gleneagles PGA and Devlin. Greens are already shaping up to be very good this year too.
Make sure you play all 3 9's. They are very different from each other and there's quite a difference in difficulty.

Falkirk Tryst is flat, short and tight. Alloa Schawpark is good, very busy and can close for very little rain.

Avoid Pitreavie, Dunfermline is very good though.

To get to Muckhart from Edinburgh bypass, head towards Kincardine Bridge. Once you are over the bridge hang a left and head towards Kinross/Perth.
Once your on the Kinross road you will go through some small villages. You will pass through one called Powmill, just outside the village is a junction to the left, signposted Crieff. Take that turning, 200 yards later there is another turning to the left taking you to Muckhart. Can't miss it from there.

Muckhart to St Andrews. Head back the way you came from the golf course until you get to the main Kinross road. Head towards Kinross, then jump on the M90 for a couple of miles, come off first junction posted Cupar and St Andrews and just follow the road through Cupar onto St Andrews.

Probably 30 - 45 minutes from Edin to Muckhart (depending on how far round the bypass you are, plus the traffic at the bridge).
45mins - 1hour for St Andrews.
