Anyone got that odd or embarrassing club that you just can't take out your bag?

For me it's a £10 dunlop hybrid that I bought when I started playing a year ago "to try out"

But I hit it so well I just can't take it out my bag!

My mother in law has the oldest bullseye type putter, like the ones you get at really rubbish crazy golf places, but she loves it, wouldn't swap it for anything

Anyone else have clubs like this, try as you might they just never seem to get displaced by anything else

Not exactly embarrassing, but a good twenty years old, is my trusty ping 1 iron. bit of a dinosaur in a world of hybrids, but can pretty much guarantee 190 yards, straight down the middle if my driver is misbehaving.

Embarrassing clubs I'd go for my putter, there's nothing wrong with actual club just what it does when I use it.

My dads got the worlds ugliest & biggest sand iron, it's a Hotblade Sand Blaster it's designed to get the ball out of any bunker and works for him.

I've got a Dunlop 9 wood, had it for ages but it went back in my bag during a particularly bad attack of the shanks and now I couldn't be without it even though the shanks are now only an occasional visitor.

It's great for when I've got a dodgy lie or tree branches nearby where I'd normally be a bit afraid of damaging my "better" clubs, or for playing a high long shot and the result is nearly always better than I'd hoped. A good exapmle would be a match a couple of weeks ago where on dogleg hole I was blocked out by tall trees that would normally need at least an 8 iron to get over but I had about 180 yards to go, so I took a hopeful swing with the 9 wood and it sailed over the tres and landed on the green. :D

but its not listed in your sig. If its in the bag, its in the sig

Having a favourite old clunker of a club is fine, no embarrassment needed.

There is, of course, one type of embarrassing club beyond all others - the chipper. Extra marks on the embarrassment scale if it is a Bronty.

Have to say that no-one should ever feel embarrassed by their golf clubs or bag, shoes or anything else they wear when playing as long as it conforms (and as far as clothes are concerned - tidy and appropriate). If you don't have any golf clubs then anything is heaven sent when you enjoy the game. If that old £5 putter does it for you then it is worth it's weight in gold - to you. Smile sympathetically at the fool who thinks otherwise.

I bent my gap wedge shaft when I hit a tree with my follow through. I have never had it fixed. I have to hold it at a really flat angle to get the loft and lie right on it. Bad times

I have to take this club out of the bag quite regularly. It is my sand wedge. I bought it new 2 years ago and the lower part of the grip split soon after. I have been too idle (or mean) to get it re-gripped on the basis that I don't grip that far down anyway.

I used to carry an Adams 7 wood just for one shot but now I hit the 4 iron well I don't have it in the bag so it's in the naughty cupboard even though it hasn't actually been naughty!

If I don't need it it's not in the bag anymore!

My mate has a chipper,in fact it made an appearance at the pannal meet, hits it 150 yards, and its just had a replacement shaft and grip!

Aren't chippers banned!?

I found a 3 & 5 wood from years ago from my Dad's garage, that I used to use when I first picked up the game as an adult. They are Mizuno Blue Rage 3 & 5 wood, the head on the 3 wood is almost as small as the ball! I've dropped the 3 wood in the bag and plan on having a swing on the range to see if it plays well... I used to use the tee before I had a Driver!

I have a Hippo(yes :)) 56 Sw that goes in my bag from time to time.Ive had some amazing shots with it including an eagle from 60yards,ive owned it about 10 years and just cant let it go as I feel so comfortable to use it.:fore:
