Anyone else not impressed with the Masters coverage?

OK, so now I am royally ****** *** (annoyed)

Every year for as long as I can remember, Thursday is Master's day.

Not any more.

Maybe one day everyone implicated in the gradual transition of sports from PSB to Sky and the like will all disappear up their own.......

and we wonder why young people aren't following golf anymore? Not everyone has sky......

You cannot blame sky for wanting to have the best events around. No other tv company is willing to put in the money into the sport then they shouldnt even have a sniff at the highlights let alone full live coverage. As much as people hate sky they are pumping money and big money at that into some sports which enables us folk to watch most sports events around the world. I am more than happy to pay sky if they keep pumping money into the sports I love, Cricket Golf and Football. People will also moan its there fault clubs have got into debt, although sky never told them how they had to spend there tv money.

You get what you pay at the end of the day like it or not thats just the way it is.

SKYs coverage of the masters is THE MOST CRAPPY COVERAGE EVER ITS DISGUSTING HOW MUCH LITTLE GOLF IS SHOWN, Sorry for shouting.

I actually stopped watching it and just recorded it and watched it later and fast forwarded all the BS.

As i recorded the golf instead i decided to watch the Prem League darts and i was so impressed because THEY ACTUALLY BROAD CAST SOME DARTS.

So very upset and angry with it

As previously mentioned in the thread, it`s Augusta who limit the coverage on the first 2 days, they always have.

Maybe it`s time they started moving with the times, but I suspect they won`t....

I`m watching the coverage in Japan, and it`s equally non-existent. Westwood leading and I`ve seen perhaps 4 of his shots over the last 4 holes, same with McIlroy. Maybe I didn`t get up early enough (started 4am here) but I haven`t seen a single shot from Tiger, only one quick pan of him walking to a tee, but no play whatsoever......

You guys need to move to New Zealand, four and a half hours of excellent coverage here starting at 7am, so watched it till the end then out to the club for some practice in 22 degrees

As other people have said, it's not sky's fault, just sky + it and skip through the adds! Proper coverage doesn't start till 8pm so you'll have and hours worth of skip time. Worked fine for me last night!

Fine, then some one needs to put pressure on them to change. Loss of major status would do it.

Nice idea Murph, but if it wasn't a major, would we be that bothered about watching?

As to "putting pressure on them" to change, for a club that had no black guys until very recent, still won't allow women (not even the president of their major sponsor), and by all accounts makes caddies eat their dinner from a dog-bowl round the back, I don't think a few viewers moaning will make a lot of difference. Nice course, but they have their head so far up their own, err, armpits, they can't see the real world.

What is the schedule for coverage on bbc, is it weekend only?

Show opens - Hazel McSporran to talk inanely for 20 minutes with Ken Brown about the background to the Masters that we all know already and that they ran last year and the year before.

9.20 - 40 seconds of someone 8 shots out of the lead hitting their ball into the 2nd green

9.21 - Five minute clip of Ken Brown rolling balls up and down greens

9.26 - 40 seconds of someone 6 shots out of the lead hitting their ball into the 7th green

9.27 - Ten minute clip of Ken Brown on the 12th tee and green

9.37 - bonus two minute coverage of people actually playing green

Note - intersperse all of this with clip of unmoving leader board of top seven players.

9.40 - Ten more minutes of Hazel McSporran nattering about anything not to do with golf

9.50 - Introduce Michael Vaughn who will interview players finishing their rounds - special competition for viewers to work out exactly why he is there instead of a real journalist.

10.00 - Wheel Peter Alliss out of his coffin to talk bollocks for two hours of actual coverage with more Ken Brown clips, lots of scoreboard showing and some Vaughn interviews.

12.00 - if anyone is still actually watching outside of the blue-rinse brigade who love Alliss, Hazel will get her tits out.

Firstly why the hell did they have kirsty Gallagher on she is as wooden as a tree and had to keep reading from a script were was the normal girl and secondly how biased was the coverage of the american players we never saw a lot of the top ten hit a ball because they are not from the bad old us of a.

I knew something was missing from my life - Ken on the course! Love him ;)
had to stay in the club last night to watch on sky, unfortunately the big screen makes everyone super skinny, Jimenez was looking particularly trim!

Their AR is set incorrectly, ask them to correct it for tonight then it's uninterrupted BBC coverage at the weekend.

I think it's appalling that so little is shown of the Masters. Ok it's Augusta's bat, ball and wicket but this is a Major. Not some 2-bit Tour event, it's the season opener. Every second should be broadcast.

Time The Masters was relegated to a big Tour event and it's Major status given to the Aussie Open.

That would mean the Americans would have to travel ALL the way to Australia and we know that's not going to happen. Half of them haven't even got passports. ;)

I would never relegate the Masters from it's major status. Every single golfer looks forward to this major because of the course, the history and the drama this event creates year on year. I haven't looked forward to a major this much in a while.

I think the US PGA should be bumped in favour of a major in Asia. The WGC events should also be rota'd around the world. Looking forward to the 'Tournament of Hope' in South Africa next year thugh. Nice to see a massive event in my homeland.

The coverage limitations are defined by the USPGA in the contracts with all "outside [of USA]" broadcasters.
They also compile and edit the footage which is why there is bias to the US players.

Personally, I don't listen much to the commentary anyway and just watch the golf being played. Watched the HD coverage until 9.30pm last night and then watched the rest in 3D and it was awesome. I don't care what someone is babbling on about in the background when it feels like I'm standing right next to the tees, fairways and greens (and in the case of Big Phil and Stenson, in the woods with them) :D

Watched various bits and pieces on Sky from around 6pm onwards. Red button coverage was good in the early part of the evening, then the main coverage was the choice until late on. Don't think anyone else could have done it any better given the constraints the broadcasters have placed upon them.

Good evenings viewing with a good leaderboard so no complaints from me.

Excellent coverage from Sky from 9 onwards when I got in, couldn't have asked for much more really.

If you choose to watch the inane dross that is all the build up and complain that there's no golf then it's your fault really. They do they same for football - 1hr45min build up for a 90min champions league game.
