Anyone else get frustrated in Pairs matches?

Have to say that with HTL and me its the opposite. With his length I let him bash it and go for the shots. He prefers to grip it and rip it and so I try and play a steady game and hang around to come in where possible.

As those that have played against us, we tend to work pretty well especially in a matchplay scenario. It doesn't have to be the lower guy taking all the risks. The difference is knowing when to take the risk on.

Getting birdies as "the low man" doesn't have to be about taking risks Homer. It's to be expected that you will have at least 10 birdie chances during 18 holes, in 4BBB it's normally vital that you convert a fair few.

I don't have 10 birdie chances every game. 10 "nett" birdies maybe.

We have two tight par 3's, SI's 1 & 3. On the first i tell him to lay it up and be sure to make 4, its really unlikely they'll make a proper 3. He does so, I hit my tee shot on and i make a 3 for par - halved.

next one, tight again OOB left and stream on the right. Does he follow the same tactic? No, hits his 1st OOB then his provisional in the stream. I was already on this green.

I don't follow your logic at all here. On the second hole, you are already on the green, so you're looking at a 3 at worst, why would you then get your partner to lay up?

He's a high handicapper, so won't chip and putt that often, the par is safe with you, so he needs to pop at the green, it's a free shot effectively, laying up when you're in position is bad tactics here.

Also, he should be going first when the difference in handicap is so big, what if you donk one out of bounds, you've now put a mass of pressure on your weaker partner.
