anyone carry 60 degree and 64 degree wedge

anyone carry 60 degree and 64 degree wedge.. is there a need to carry both or not? been enjoying my 64 degree wedge but just bought a 60 degree wedge and wondering will it do the job of the 64 degree or do i need both?? any help is welcome cheers guys?

Don't play with a 64 but if it suits why not; I never use my LW for full shots, just for little pops up into the air

How are you getting on deciding which clubs to drop - you've currently got 15 in your list -I know cos I carry 4 wedges so have to decide what I'm leaving out at the bottom end of the bag, which is another reason why going to 64 is really extreme, because it becomes a trade off on how many shots you will benefit from putting the extra wedge in compared to the options that you lose at the bottom end.

I have a 60 and 64. I only put the 64 in the bag for the pga at the belfry. Very deep bunkers and protected greens make it a handy tool to have. My friends just open the face on their 60's but doing that on a tight lie needs big danglers, something I havent got

I use my 60 degree a fair bit from various positions but would only use a 64 if I needed to fell a tree.

I guess it depends on whether or not you need different clubs for full shots from 18 yards and 21 yards?

My course has some greens which has bunkers either side and you need the ball up and down very quickly. i played golf today and and used the 64 degree 7 times. just wondering if i 60 would do the job of 64 as i never used a 60 before. i am no good using an open faced club

Become proficient with a 56* is one answer I would give. I cannot see any reason for a club golfer to carry a 60 and above unless its to replace poor technique. Money would be far better spent on lessons IMO.

technique is good dont need lessons as my best friend is a pro and get them free every time we have a round together.

Seriously Mark, you've posted a couple of times about lob wedges. You're a 15hcp so clearly have decent ability, concentrate your efforts on lessons and practice on your short game. Seve NEVER used more than 56* of loft yet he was a short game genius.

Your handicap will tumble if you take my advice, throwing more wedges in your bag isn't the solution :thup:

Then you can learn to hit a wedge with an open face. I'd be interested to hear what your mate thinks about this.

That is a pretty ignorant post mate, bordering on the offensive! Loads of players both amateur and pro use a 60 deg wedge, and all the big companies make them. You are well documented on here saying you prefer a 56, and that is great, but other people are different, why can't you respect that? I used a 56 for an entire year as my most lofted club, and I could play it open if I wanted with fair ability. Now I prefer to use a 60 deg wedge as I am far more consistent with it and I like some chips and pitches to drop and stop with little roll. Each to their own eh?
