anyone carry 60 degree and 64 degree wedge

I agree, I really don't want to open up my 56/12 off a tight lie on hard ground - there's only going to be one outcome. I'll stick with having my 60 in the bag.

I have a 56-11. I don't really want to open it much at the minute off the fairway as its bone dry. ill only open it if ive missed the green and its sitting up slightly.

my 60 has 8 bounce. its the same with this. cant really open this on a tight lie.

if I was going to go down the 3 wedge route I would go for low bounce wedges but this would present more problems when the ground is soggy.

anyone carry 60 degree and 64 degree wedge.. is there a need to carry both or not? been enjoying my 64 degree wedge but just bought a 60 degree wedge and wondering will it do the job of the 64 degree or do i need both?? any help is welcome cheers guys?

Gonna keep it simple for you, You dont need both in it bag a 64 can do the job of a 60 and vice versa
I carry a 62 and that does what i need

This thread has developed yet again into pointlessness. Certain posters are saying LWs are unnecessary as people should learn to hit lower lofted wedges better - these moaners frequently have hybrids in their bags, which other posters would tell you are unnecessary because you should just learn to use your long irons properly.

It's horses for courses, carry what you are happy with. If my having a 60 in my bag causes anyone offence then please feel free to pm me.

Amen to that 🙏

Sweeping statements based on opinion not fact are rarely accurate!

In your opinion!

Mickelson carries both.

But until I'm getting close to his quality, I won't bother.

Nor consider the 2 Drivers that he used when winning a tournament - but not The Masters.

I know a guy that used 2 putters for a while - leftie one for the short ones he yipped right-handed. Now putts left-handed.

He also used the frankenwood or as us mere mortals call it a strong 3 wood!

But I have no issue with what clubs anyone carries or the reason for it, my dad carries 2 x 56* wedges one with low bounce for his courses tight fairways and the other high bounce for there bunkers as the low bounce one just digs in sand.

It was more the statement people hate lob wedges because they can't use them that made me comment as above. I carry one purely for my home course ad getting short sided but at my old place there was no need for more that a standard Sand iron loft, it's just I find people set their bags up for what they find best for the course they play most and not because they're scared of clubs.

Have to admit this is a thought that crossed my mind, at my place the low bounce would be as much use in some of our bunkers which are like concrete in the bottom at times with no sand.

Sorry but I disagree. Certainly not an offensive post. I happen to agree with the post. If the OP is mates with a pro then the pro should be able to show him how to utilise a 56 or 58 and open it up to do what a 60 and a 64 can. Simple as. By doing that, it would reduce the need for the 64 and give the OP more options elsewhere in the bag. As both a 60 and 64 aren't designed to be hit as a full shot I really don't see the benefit in carrying two wedges with only 4 degrees difference for finesse shots. Or am I being offensive too?

I wouldn't want to open up a 56/10 if I needed to flop over a bunker with very little green to work with, I'll reach for my 60/5 as opening up the 56 will increase the bounce and there would be a greater chance of thinning. Let people just use what they are comfortable with.

Well put sir. A 60 & 64 wedge in the bag together?? Why not carry two putters too. Madness.

So Big Phil is mad for carrying 2 putters and even 2 drivers at times?

I think its one thing advising people who ask for advice and another ridiculing their reasons in response to questions asked, let people use what their comfortable and confident with. There seems to be some quite average handicaps on view even though all those "golfers" can manufacture so many clever shots with their wedges, where does it all go wrong then

Oh, and I don't use a cheating stick (Hybrid) and I drive with a strong (13*) 3w, is that wrong, should I go get a 12.5 driver just to conform :mmm:

I think its fair to say that in this game of the handicap Golfer there are no 100% correct answers when it comes to technique V clubs

Use whatever works for you

The other obvious point is that if you stick in an extra wedge, you are going to have to drop a club from the other end of the bag,
Is that going to create any gaps ?

I have a PW , 52, 56,60 and use all for different distances, 52 for a chip n run, 60 for one that needs to stop etc

I carry a 60 but don't really remember the last time I used it. It's only in the bag because I have a space for it. As soon as I pick up a 3 hybrid for the bottom end, the 60 will be gone. However, my playing partner carries a 60 and he's mustard with it. Almost every shot from 50 yards and in will be played with this club. It annoys me sometimes when I think he's short sided behind a bunker and he flicks one in to 3 ft.

In other words, use what you want to use. Give it plenty of practice and commit to the shot and you'll be fine. One mans 60 is another mans 5 hybrid....:D

that's the ticket.

Friend of mine has the Cleveland Hi-bore 4-pw

He gets on fine with them but they are on the large side

He also carries a chipper and a 64 degree wedge

So each to their own

He flirted with just his low bounce one and a 60degree but even then he didn't have enough bounce on it. So he bought a high bounce Hotblade 56* to see how it went having the two wedges in the bag and its paid dividends.
