I've played here a couple of times this year and I really like it. Just wondering if anyone is a member here and could give me an honest review of membership and the regularity of Comps/roll ups etc.

Our place is undergoing some major changes over the coming 18months so I was thinking of having a look elsewhere for a season or two.

I was a member for two years. The earls is still my favourite course. I left because i was struggling to get a tee time in the warmer months. If you can book ahead you wont have a problem. Roll ups are impossible

Do they have online booking? I work on a pc so I don't see why I couldn't book in advance?

The booking is online and when i was a member was upto 11 days in advance. Even then to book 11 days in advance required you to be at your pc at 6.30 am ( when it became live) and get a slot. This might have changed as it was 2 years ago

This is what i'm worried about. Our place you book online and it opens at 8am 10 or 11 days before. OK Sat and Sund you need to be on and booked by half 8 but I can live with that. If it's 6.30 then I'd miss out.

Its worth checking though buddy as all the members where up on arms about it. I remember setting my alarm clock to be at my laptop for 6.30 and then going back to bed

Any idea what the rates where? I asked a few months ago but I've totally forgotten what they replied with. I'm sure it was something reasonable though.

It was around 800 for the golf and gym. Not sure on the golf only price. The gym is to a good standard and full of clacker in the summer too

Yeah i had a feeling it was something around that price. That's a bit far for you isn't it though mate? Thought you were Brum way?

It was no problem before i had a kid and i have time off in the week. Imo the earls was worth the travel. Used to play twice a week and stay back for the gym.

Them where the days!!!!!!!

Are you still at ullesthorpe? What are they doing to the course?

Yes I'm still there but there are some massive changes afoot. Whilst they are building a range and practice area, they've sold the second hole for houses. Changing the first In to a par 4 and then a par 3. The par 4 15th is to become a par 5 and they are extending it by about 50-100 yards. All of that is fine but the whole of next season is going to be played on some temporary and in some places featureless holes. They have cut quite a few of the temp greens in preparation and there is nothing exciting about them, just completely round featureless greens. It may be ok for the 2016 season but I really can't see me paying my money to lay there next year when there are places like the warwickshire around at similar money.

Shame as have really enjoyed ullesthorpe the last couple of seasons. i liked the 2nd shame to see that going. Did notice the lack of practice facilities though, especially for a resort type of course. If I was down your way I'd def join the Warwickshire for that money. Mine has gone up again this year, now paying £944. One course, limited practice facilities and no gym!

Love the Warwickshire and have only played the Kings course which apparently doesn't even compare to the Earls... I know its just good use of marketing but whenever I have played it (via teetimes) I have had an email asking how I got on and offering me discounted member rates. Even though I never replied I have received calls from the Warwickshire a couple of times again offering me membership... Im the opposite side of Birmingham so wouldn't even consider it if they halved the prices but I do love getting a round in down there when I fancy somewhere different.
