Anyone a member at the Warwickshire?

Seems he is a member at the warwickshire and north warwickshire now.

I'm sure Fish left Kenilworth for North Warwickshire, the 9 holer. For what it's worth a few guys in our works society were members at the Warwickshire and left because they couldn't get tee times in the warmer months at the popular times i.e. Friday p.m. and weekends. They have all joined private clubs and are now moaning about having to pay extra in subs - can't please some people you know!

I can't believe they are changing what is a cracking opening hole at Ullesthorpe - are the reasons for all these changes financial?

I think that in order to finance the new practice facilities they have to get the money from somewhere. A few years ago they sold some waste land beyond the second for houses and they think they can sell the second to expand the estate and raise the necessary funds.

Fish is a member of both North Warks and the Warwickshire. How long ago was it that the society guys left? Where are you a member seeing as you're pretty local to me?

You've obviously forgotten our conversation about Oakridge ;) I knew Fish had joined North Warwickshire for definite but wasn't aware that he had joined the Warwickshire as well.

The guys from our society didn't renew this year because they couldn't get tee times through last summer. One joined Maxstoke and a couple joined Fish's old track at Kenilworth. I suppose the question with regards to the Warwickshire is when do you expect to play your golf, if you can avoid peak times it's a no-brainer.

Ahh didn't realise you were a member at oakridge still. I'd be wanting to play in weekend comps mainly. I'd hope they have tees reserved for those?

I think the main problem they had was if they wanted social golf. Comps were on one of the two courses but the other would be booked up with societies and the like.

Oakridge serves my needs, not the best I know but it's local (5 minutes away), a decent Pro now - Andy Smith who was the assistant at your place a few years back. Give it another 25 years and things may change for the better (I'm a patient man :))

I'm speaking to them tomorrow so I'll have to bring that topic up. I was discussing tonight how if I'm going to be spending 500+ on a course I'd rather it be top quality and a bit of a commute than lower quality and ten minutes from home. Do you know young Mark Spencer? Was junior captain there a few years back.

I've played both courses at The Warwickshire several times and I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the one major drawback - the appalling drainage.

I know members who have left there because winter golf is a nightmare. And I played the Earls as recently as three weeks ago and found it absolutely sodden underfoot even though we had not had much rain in the days beforehand.

The membership fee may be reasonable, but in the summer you'll struggle for tee times and in the winter you may find the courses largely unplayable. That said, if you are used to the boggy conditions you get at Ullesthorpe, it may not disappoint you too much!

I played Saturday morning in the rain and it certainly wasn't wetter than I would've expected. They had buggies out on the kings. Maybe it's prolonged rain that causes an issue?

Certainly something to consider though I don't want to go somewhere that's closed because it's a bit wet for 3 months.
