Anymore Majors for Woods?

Think it will all come down to how he gets over his latest set back. He has the talent no doubt and has time left to get at least one but think jacks record will stand. Think his biggest loss is his aurora, no one is afraid of him any more.

I think he has tournament wins in him and I wouldn't be surprised to see him get back to #1 in the world. Injury free and able to swing freely I think he has one more major in him and would think Augusta is his best chance.

I dislike these sort of threads because those who are fans of TW (like me) think that he will beat Jacks record and those that dislike Tiger think that he won't win another major, and after debating this for ten pages, no one has changed their mind on the issue. I also dislike people saying that there is too much competition for Tiger to win 4+ majors, he was able to win 2 WGC's and the Players last year in major fields.

Someone give this man a medal

They maybe major fields but they still aren't majors - they are just different

Im a tiger woods fan boy. I liked golf because of him. But I don't blindly think he'll beat the record. I support saints too, and think their the best club in the world, doesn't mean I expect them to win everything. Being a fan, and being realistic can go hand in hand.

Sorry but a WGC is restricted in numbers, usually played on courses with forgiving rough, certainly not set up as US Open or with rough like you get at links courses for The Open and so Woods, Mickleson and others have the ability to still bomb the ball with driver and get away with it. I do think Woods will get back, but he no longer has that aura. No-one is scared of him anymore and I also think others like Scott have raised their own games now and that makes it harder for Woods to match or beat Jack's record. As for being a fan or not, I'm ambivalent and respect what he's done for the game and achieved but less endeared wit the way he has acted on and off the course at times

Come on man, I literally just said there is no point to arguing with me on this because unless you invent a time machine and take me to the day TW leaves this mortal coil and ascends to the great gig in the sky and therefore can't win another major, I am not going to be swayed in my belief that Tiger Woods will beat Nicklaus' record. My point about "too much competition" is valid as Tiger proved last year because he won 3 of the big 9 (4 majors, 4 WGCs and the Players).

If Darren Clark can win the Open then Tiger can win another 10 majors

There's still hope for Lee and Luke aswell

Darren Clarke was and is a great player. I don't see what you're getting at there, there's players that were much less deserving of a major win than Clarke, Todd Hamilton and Ben Curtis being two

Regardless of it being Tiger or any player but the majors are the majors and they are in a category of their own

There isn't a "big 9"

It's the majors

The WGC on the next level below

Then the players and the PGA at Wentworth.

The majors are set apart because of the way the course is set up and the open field as opposed to restricted numbers.

That has nothing to do with whether Woods will win a major or not - it's been 24 majors and 6 years now.

Better chance of Elin taking him back.

Was that a reply to the OP's question or to Imurgs challenge!

I'd love to seem him win another Major soon. Alas, I don't think it's going to happen.

I'm neither a hater (apart from his spitting) nor a fanboy btw.

The bubble burst when a European trounced an American in 2009 and put paid to his Aura and the very sincere televised apology :rofl:He gave to the world..

Alllll Hail Elin Maria Pernilla Nordegren

I think he will win another 2, maybe even 3 if he can get a injury free run going, but he won't equal Jack's record.

There is no big 9. There are four majors.

There are WGC's but they are limited fields. The Players tries to be a major but it isn''t and never will be. I do think Woods is capable of winning and think Augusta offers his best chance but equally, I think world golf is stronger these days. Just because he won a number of events last year is no guarantee he's capable of winning a major. I also happen to think we're on the brink of a big influx of Asian male golfers in the next few years to compare with the domination of the ladies tour and that will only make it harder in the years to come

In short I dont think he will , he has not been able to play well enough in the last 2 rounds for awhile now , check the stats , but saying that he has won 14 and he knows how to do it so never say never , his putting from 10 feet in was just awesome , now you always feel he is going to miss and the pressure must be greater now which each passing major and there are guys like Rory , Adam Scott, Phil M , Bubba , Martin K who have won and want more , then there are the likes of Jason Day , Keagan B , Jason Dufner , Stenson and others who have yet to win or won one are looking to win , its tough at the top ............................EYG

Why does everyone trawl this back up as SOON as he returns?
Why OH WHY OH WHY is Phil Mickelson's name ALWAYS thrown into the ring when Mickelson is OLDER that Tiger?
Will he win another one? Probably.
Will he beat Jacks record? Maybe.
First things first is to see what swing he now has and how can he use it but we aren't going to know that properly until late this year or early next.

Why not? He has proved he has the mindset 14 times, with 17 top 5 finishes and a further 7 top 10 finishes. So that is a total of 38 top 10 finishes out of 64 appearances as a Pro, not a bad effort really. Last season he managed a 4th and 6th place finish. If it comes together at the correct time then he certainly has what it takes to win more.

But as people have said it all depends on his current injury and how he recovers from it. For anyone to say that a 38 year old with his long list of golfing honours CAN'T win another major is ridiculous. If he was 48, then maybe I would agree, but he can spend another 2 years working through this latest setback and still only be 40. That to me is still young enough to go out and win more.
