Mornin' all!

Does anyone have any recommendations of a good pro in the Southampton or Portsmouth areas for lessons? The time has come for me to practice hard, and there's no better way to start than with some proper instruction.

Also, if you know of any to avoid, please let me know! Any advice welcome.

Ta,

Gringo.

Chris Kilgannon at Royal Winchester GC is very good IMO. Helped me get from 20 to 12 in the last 3 years.
Tailors his lessons to a way you'll understand. For instance my mate visualises his golf and lesson wasn't going well until he told Chris that's how he thinks. Chris changed the lesson towards that.
Me I want it as dumb as possible, I don't want to much technical talk as I find it confusing.

If you can make it up to Blackmoor, Steve Clay is excellent. He has taken all the One Plane courses in the States, but seems to base the lessons around your existing swing. Fine tuning rather than complete rebuild. He videos everything, and goes through it with you afterwards. Really friendly chap as well.

Back Street Betty the sailors friend (apparently !!!)

In Southampton area you have Martin Butcher and Tim Barter (from Sky sports). Ian Young at Stoneham also has a good reputation. If you don't mind travelling, Chris Brook is based at Parley golf centre opposite Bournemouth airport, he works with a few tour pros and has all the latest gear. Think he charges about £50 for a lesson but he can get very technical so depends what you are after.
