Had a lesson on Thursday. Worked on the back swing and trying to stop the club pointing across the line at the top. I'd usually hit the range for a few sessions afterwards and went to the club last night intent on hitting the practice ground as I was due to play the first round of a big comp today and knew I had limited time to make the changes and trust it.
Got there and the course was empty. Sod it. Very rash for a practice junkie like me but figured if it went tits up I'd stick with what I'd been using (playing ok at the moment anyway) and then work on it after the bank holiday. Actually played pretty well in patches with the new takeaway and pleasantly surprised. Decided to go with it in the comp. Only shot 38 points so a small cut coming and could have broken 40 with ease but for a couple of poor chips and putts and one five wood that found deep stuff by a foot. Wan't a bad shot just a hair to far right. Ball striking was solid throughout and two birdies (for four points each) including one in front of the watching crown at the 18th.
Off to the range tomorrow as the forecast is rotten to bed in in further and then a practise round Monday to test it out and then my 2nd and final round of the comp Tuesday morning. I'm a very happy Homer with an over flowing glass. Well chuffed with the one plane swing, my teaching pro makes it so simple and I'm managing to execute. All is positively rosy in Homers world
