I sold an item 3/4 weeks ago, with no returns, as you you do. Item was genuine and as described, posted and accepted. now just got an email asking for a return address as the buyer is not happy with item, where do i stand?
A work mate sold a phone, same idea, all fine, pos feedback left etc, then 4 weeks later got an email saying it was faulty and he was no longer happy and was raising a grivance, paypal took the 120 from mates account leaving him 120 quid outta pocket and minus the phone, how can this be right?

Surely that's a question for ebay.

I've seen ads before that say no returns under the returns policy so you must have a good chance.

thats would you would think.

I just raised a chat with them, i explained the situ, and was told that it was my choice to refund or not, so i think great, i then asked what happens if buyer says he not happy, they say, well he can raise a case, so i say ok will you thenjust take the money from my account and the ebay says not always, then i ask another question, and he goes i just explained the options, goodbye.!!! so i am very unsure, if i dont refund, i lose the item, and prob the money, because they always side with buyer, if i do refund i lose the money, i lose both ways, total disgrace imo.

You do have another option.

They can't take the money from paypal if it's not there and no bank account listed for it, although you don't then have the facility in the future.

I paid for a football shirt off ebay with paypal once, and it never turned up. The buyer said they were waiting for stock and still it never turned up so they said they'd give a refund.

The refund never appeared either so I lodged a complaint with ebay and they couldn't take the money from paypal because it wasn't there so I lost out completely.

Has your buyer said why he's not happy with the item?

he said they were not as described, , but this is over 3 weeks ago, so they could be anything now.

i think they just make your account overdrawn, but not sure.

i am going to sleep on it. think i will make the pther person raise the dispute and take my chances.

You sound like you're on solid ground if the item was indeed as described James. You may just have a chancer on your hands. It's up to him to prove to them that it wasn't as described. I'd just withdraw any money I had from PayPal and let him try to raise a dispute. Have you had a proper explanation from him?

Had it happen to me but person claimed that item had not arrived even though it was signed for and the police were investigating as the person had bought an denied receipt of 30 PS2 consoles.

End result after months of investigation, Ebay charged the card connected to my paypal account I lost the item and the money.

James your case would hold up as he has had the item three weeks before raising the complaint

I agree eBay has grown into such a huge monster now they simply don't care, as long as they get their fees their happy

You would have thought so, but after reading above that monies were taken for a so-called non receipt when the goods had been signed for, I wouldn't put anything past them.

It's also not as easy as removing money from paypal. If you have it linked to a bank account or card they will just take it from that. You'd have to remove those also, probably just close the account altogether.

I had it done to me

The buyer wanted his money back after 2 weeks stating " not as described " as the reason.

I had taken the money out of my paypal account so there was £0 in my paypal account.

When the buyer raised the case Ebay put my account into debt for the purchase ammount.

I then could not use my paypal account until I had placed sufficient funds back into the paypal account to take it out of debt

Win win for the buyer as they also won the case and there was nowt wrong with the item

I was thinking about buying a Casio EX FH20 camera.
I saw one for £142 Ended, no bids
Then it re-appears at £170 again, no bids
Next its on for £249, all the same seller.
I contacted him and he said that they are out of stock but when they get more in, the price will come down again.
He was putting on such a high price he knew nobody would bid for it but kept his name in the buyers eyes.
Is that allowed? I doubt it.

putting stuff up for sale knowing it's out of stock isn't confined to ebay. a few too many online golf sites do this too - and it can take far too long to get your money back.

All these stories of Ebay siding with buyers regardless doesn't add up to me.

How can they justify their decision if the seller has put their case forward properly, and there really is no grounds for complaint.

Something not right there.

Quite good business sense from their point of view actually....

Until the customers decide not to use them anymore.

I've used sites, ordered stuff, never got it, phoned/emailed, found out not in stock, made to wait.
Last and only transaction.

Admittedly, they might make a fortune before it all falls apart.
