Well, after yet another round wrecked by terrible putting (102, with 42 putts) I've decided that enough is enough. Once is unfortunate, twice careless, but going over 40 putts again, it's time to get some help.

Two sticks on a hinge please Bob...

I'm a pretty consistant putter, last 3 rounds 30, 31, 30 and I'm going to order one in the next few days.

It'll also help with my allignment issues.... Hopefully.

I just gave in and ordered one. Money back guarantee if I dont start taking 10 putts less a round Bob?

Got your order thanks very much.
I guarantee it will...............arrive with you soon. :)
If you have any questions about it's use, please don't hesitate to ask.

Don't just use it for putting I'm a strong advocate for its alignment uses. Give it a try.

Well, just finished up analysis of my round from earlier, and boy these stats don't lie. Using Golfshake's targets as baseline, and doing some extrapolation, my round broke down as

FIR: 6/15 (Handicap level 26)
GIR: 4/18 (20)
Scrambling: 2/14 (24)
Putts: 42 (55)
3 putts: 8/18 (65)
Putts/GIR: 11/4 (54)

Putting like a 55 handicapper. Sounds about right. If I could sort that, I'd be threatening a score in the 80s.

I played a small par 3 9 holer with some random guys today and got all of them trying mine, if you get any sales in the Cambridge area soon they might be down to me :D

It was amazing, they were all casual golfers but all holes at least two putts over 20 feet after a quick V-Easy lesson on the second tee as we waited for the group in front. One guy holed a putt from off the green on the last for his best score!

The slightly better golfer I was told was a poor putter, he did not miss one from inside 5 feet after the lesson and was only a handful of shots off his best!

It never ceases to amaze me how such a simple aid can make such a difference to anyone!

Ian, the main reason for missing putts is the lack of distance control, coming up short or charging passed the hole.
Why is it so difficult?
It's often because you have 3 sources of power influencing the ball
  • the lower body
  • the shoulders
  • the wrist flick
If you can reduce that to only one part of the body putting the ball, distance control becomes much easier.
Obviously you don't want to be turning the body with your hips or you'll miss it left and right.
Flicking the wrists is another movement you need to avoid as these small wrist muscles can 'fire' and send the ball off in all directions.
So it's generally accepted by most putting coaches that to control your distances consistently, the best way is to use the big strong slow twitch muscles in the shoulders, keeping the rest of the body very still.

You can see clearly in this video how Luke does this very well.

So, keep your hips still, don't flick the wrists and just rock the shoulders.
Hope this helps

If not, buy a V-Easy you tight git :-)

I know. It's not missing putts that I have a problem with :D

More seriously, I appreciate the pointers. With any luck when my V-Easy arrives I'll be able to feel what a putting stroke with quiet wrists feels like. I'll bet it's somewhat different to what I'm currently doing.

He'd have to be retarded if she couldn't use it properly especially with the pictures on the box Bob ;)

It is a very good peice of kit to be fair though.

my club sells them, asst pro hadnt a clue what they were for when I enquired months ago but he was new, think I'll try one and hopefully it shows/feels what I've changed in my 'used to be good' putting stroke

Teegirl took the pictures of me using it and I sent them off to the guys at YES GOLF to show them what sort of shots I was after. I was expecting them to use some young good looking guy with hair to model for the pictures so was gobsmacked to see the finished product with me on the box.
Still, despite that drawback, it still works well.

Haha It certainly does.

Getting mine out again tomorrow along with a change in putter. The Anser is definitely back on the naughty step although in its defence the breakdown of the wrists, heavily sanded greens and lack of confidence weren't entirely its fault. Need to freshen the whole putting stroke up.
