Annual subscription 2026

Just checked and the other 2 course in our area go to age 29 and again on a sliding scale.

In terms of annual fee we are very competitive given we have 27 holes and good facilities. Mid price of the 3 courses.

Our driving range is only 150 yards, so is the same, 8 iron max. There aren't any decent driving ranges in Maidstone at all.
If I remember rightly doesn’t it run alongside the 9th hole 🤔. I didn’t realise it was that short though.. The only ones I can think Maidstone way that had full length practice areas was West Malling and Kingshill. I think it’s a Kent course issue in general though.

With the seemingly permanent weather change, there's many courses in Kent that used to be fine in the winter are now suffering big time with the amount of rain. Even our costal links cousins.
Is it getting that bad! I haven’t played down that way since about 2017/18. Though that will be changing this year as I need to get some more rounds in with my brother and my father in law.

Yes, along the 9th hole. There is talk of it being extended, but nothing has materialised yet. Kings Hill would be a good club to join with a proper range and it's always the driest around in winter.

I personally wouldn't say it's getting that bad really. As I said before, Bearsted is considerably better in winter than it was in the past.

Our subs are due in april so we'll wait and see how much it goes up this year but i'd expect 5%
We have a sliding scale on age groups. Now i have skin in the game as my lad has just turned 18 so he's going to benefit from this greatly (well i am as im the one that pays his subs)
If it were up to me i think a sliding scale up to 25 is a good idea, but our club the sliding scale goes up until you turn 36! a 30 year old pays 40% less than a 37 year old.
In april our club will start banging the drum about subs increasing to cover the new minimum wage, NI contributions, power, fuel costs, half a dozen projects which need doing etc... im thinking just re visit the sliding scale.
what other sport does a sliding scale on subs until people are 30 before paying full price, my football season ticket is under 16's then 18 to 20 then full adult
at 16 your paying full price on an easyjet flight.

I totally agree with you in principle, the absolute maximum ought to be 30, near us one course as it until 40 which seems barmy. The problem now is though that so many clubs offer it round here to under 35's taking in taking it away at one club is likley to lead to many leaving to move to one that continues to offer it. In recent years we have a significant increase in members amnogst this age group which we would likely not have had, had we not offered the deal. Very difficult one for clubs to navigate now.

Clubs taking on too many intermediates also increases the fees for the rest of us to make up the shortfall.

I am pretty certain if got rid of our intermediates, subs would either have to up or standards would drop, as the income from those few staying would not outweigh those going to other clubs in the area. The only way it could be done would be by clubs working together, but can't see that happening in the foreseeable.

Agree.....always preferred Filly myself
It wasn't that long ago when you could play The Filly as a visitor for £20, it genuinely wasn't. A real shame that's priced so high now, it's a smashing course and a good way to experience the set up there (which is very nice, although not nearly £3k nice 😨)

Just checked to confirm, £100 to play The Filly, £35 if with a member. £100 suggests they want to reduce the number of visitors

Yes its all gone a bit crazy
Defenitely not a £100 golf course that's for sure.

Was member 2017 (iirc) year of 1st British masters there, could sign a guest on then for £15.

Worse still
I was told before Xmas off ex member, his renewal last October was £2895, a group of them left and went to Tyneside

Close house dont even advertise their member fees anymore
🙄

Tyneside is the best of both worlds, cracking course and you get to stare at Close House across the valley 🤣
