Annual subscription 2026

Every course around me in Ireland has gone up, I've yet to hear of one remaining the same. And some have jumped a lot. It's getting costly for anyone who isn't playing regularly enough to justify the cost of a membership.

Ours are increasing by 5% to £1760.

I'm more annoyed they are ditching the £40 bar concession for paying early/on time 🤬
I’m intrigued as to where you’re a member at. My brothers course in Kent has had a similar % increase so wonder if it’s something down that way causing a similar rise.

Also why cancel the concession that’s a sure way to get money into the club because people will always need a top up but removing it adds the uncertainty they may not bother in the first place.

Unless a club is currently running a large profit and happy to see that fall (or other factors are in play), subscriptions will have to go up a fair bit this year just to maintain the status quo. Combined effect of buusiness rates, wage inflation from minimum wage up and Employer's NI feeding through from last year will be the major drivers.

Ours was running at a significant loss already (as per many clubs - committee management can be amateurish at times - old committee terrified to put up prices even by inflation for years in case upsets the most complainy members and so got themselves into a hole). To the great credit of the newer committee they set out why it was necessary and managed to drive an increase not far off 20% through a General Meeting along with removing some unwise discounted rates - but only just. To anyone with any clue how to look at accounts it was very much obvious that not to do so would be a disaster.

Ours went up 8% from £1250 to £1350.

Subs due by end of March but if you pay by 22nd Jan you can have it at last years rate.

I'm always suspicious of such "early bird" deals....gives me the impression that cash-flow could be an issue. The spiel that came out was that the early influx of cash would enable to club to do some renovation work on a few holes before we really kick off with the season in March. The cynic in me says that if work was envisioned for Jan/Feb/Mar in 2026 then it needed to be factored in to the 2025/26 budget/forecast/pricing. Needless to say, I'm keeping my eye out to see what work actually gets done over the coming two months (yes I did take up the offer!!!).

Nice course not played there in many a year. I know the area well my oldest daughter works at the Uni, need to pop down and see her when I’m back may swing by the club see how it is. I would say for the club as a I remember it though that’s still a decent rate compared to some of the other ones fairly local.
