Annual subscription 2026

I really can’t see the issue with a £250 levy providing you can use it. This weeks comp included a breaky and was £15.00 and a round of drinks for our 4 ball was around the same, that’s over 10% spent in 1 day.

£20 a month is hardly extortionate unless you’re a carpark member who never uses the club house, enter comps etc etc. 🤷🏼‍♂️
Just no. Everything about the money involved here is icky.

Again no one is “forced” - it’s a choice

People do need to stop using a statement of being forced to do something

You’re not
But....if you have been a member at a club and then SHAZAM.....here is a big bill to pay for something you may not want. Yeah....you are kind of being forced into something. Yep....you can move, but.....

And then you leave if you don’t want it 🤷‍♂️

There is your choice

Always a choice

But a levy being introduced will more than likely go through an EGM and a members vote

I don’t agree with the “it’s not forced philosophy”.

If I was told I’m paying an extra £250 as it’s needed for the course maintenance or a course project I can make an informed decision on its benefit and I’d probably pay it. As a better course benefits my enjoyment of the game.

But telling me it’s money prepaid that I have to spend behind the bar! No thanks I don’t drink when I’m driving anywhere and I’ll personally choose on whether I want to spend at the bar not be told I have to, and saying well you can just leave if you don’t like it again shows it’s a forced fee. Pay up or leave the club!

How very welcoming !

Based on this thread most are saying it’s not just behind the bar, ours is bar, comp entries, half way hut and pro shop.

It’s also a way of enticing people to be sociable and mix with others, not just be car park members.

Yes, you leave, join a waiting list and pay an entry fee.
Nah....not likely that bad....but. He said you aren't "forced" when in fact you kind of ARE forced into it. Not technically....yes, you can walk (which I have done)....but putting the screws to people who are at the club to pay a bunch of money that they hadn't in the past....sounds a bit forced to me.

Yes. If you don't pay the membership fees set by the committee, you have to leave. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

Again I will still put out that I should be able to choose. Comp entries fair enough but I doubt I’d spend that much on club comp entries in a year. My new place doesn’t have a half way hut and so that’s out and as for supporting Pro absolutely no issue with that if they stock what I want and use. Otherwise it’s again dead money for me.

I prefer the choice of where my cash goes rather than it being shoe horned onto me.

Did I say I wouldn’t pay membership fees. Not at any point have I said that, I said I begrudge enforced Levy’s! IMO there’s a difference.

A good percentage of levy’s also then offer the card holder discount (ie 10% off food) - would you expect to still receive the discount with the levy?

The additional convenience of knowing I have money on my card means my comps are paid from that card as is my post round drinks or mid round coffee so I don’t have to remember taking cash to the club or faff around with my wallet.

Well, you said: "Pay up or leave the club! How very welcoming!"
Sounded like you thought there should be a third option.

Does your club have a levy
