Had a slightly surreal moment on the course today. I had a tough 20-25 yards bunker shot on an otherwise easy par 5, with the pin set just at the top of a tier. Anyway, the ball came out just perfectly and as it flew through the air everything seemed to go into slo-mo just momentarily - you could almost see the logo on the ball going end over end. Pitched just short of pin-high, did a little dance sideways (the ball, not me!) and finished 7ft away. Doesn't sound that great, but honestly I could have stood there with a bucket of balls and not got another one as close.
To top it all off, I made the putt while my opponent who had knocked it on with a gap wedge second shot (ridiculously downwind) three-whacked it from the lower tier.
Anyone else ever had that odd slo-mo thing?

I had a slow mo thing when I cam to pick you for the Kingswood meet as my fav to win. I'd been told you were the form horse!!! Seems like it was 24 hours too late.

Actually I know what you mean. I find that if I'm going to chip in, there is a time as the ball is on the way that you instantly know its going in and you can just see the path the ball will take and can watch it trace that line until it reaches the bottom of the cup

The problem is, Homer, that after a bit of early-season form, my GM OOM handicap has now reached the punitive heights (or depths?) of just 2 - four less than my actual. Bit too hard for me off 2, so best wait till I've managed to chop my way back up to 6 before tipping me up again!

I had one at goswick, when I pitched in from about 40-50 yards to save Par.

As you say H, you just know its goin from the moment you hit it!

Had that feeling on the first hole of my matchplay game.

My opponent hit his second shot from around 150 yds right at the pin, landed about 10 feet from the pin rolled towards the pin and appeared to disappear into the cup.
Unfortunately it lipped out to 6 inches.

Seems I was led astray by the mistrals that lurk in the GM office. I was told you were the form horse. I guess its a nodding testament to your past OOM ability that they have cut you by the knees. I hope the winner will be similarly dealt with.

Out of interest what is the current OOM table

I had this with three shots in a row, my drive which went 270/80 middle of fairway/my PW to 2 feet and my putt for birdie when I played a pal a week or so ago.

3 great shots on one hole, that was it for the rest of the round

not had the slo-mo but on three occasions now I've had the track line on a green, you just know that if you start the putt on the line there's no way to miss.

Last season I hit into par 3 bunker, nice lie, pin in middle of green 5 yards away. Club open about 80deg full swing and took some sand - I thought I missed it it went so well - landed 2ft past and 1ft left of pin it skipped about. Then slo mo and it zipped back into the hole.

Genuine slo mo with silence then bang into cup and then cheers - cartoon stuff!!

Yes, but not with golf. Ran my Audi coupe into the back of a stationary HGV at 50 mph. The whole world stopped. I actually heard the spare wheel break from its mount, my map fly off the rear seat, etc. time literally stood still. Never had anything like it. It flipping hurt too. Ow.

I flushed a 3-wood from 265y on Friday, second shot into a tricky par 5. I was on a nasty downhill lie and there was a tree to carry approx 150y away. It was debatable whether I'd clear the tree or not as I had taken loft off the shot by leaning left with the slope. As it set off towards the tree I could literally count the twigs at the top of the tree before watching the ball clear the very top most twig by about 3 microns, landing at 230y, bouncing twice, running up the apron of the green and onto the putting surface before breaking right towards the pin. For a moment I thought I might hole it for an albatross.

Altogether I'd say the shot lasted about 15 minutes in slo-mo

FWIW: It ended up 12ft from the pin and I missed the eagle putt. No shame in a tap-in birdie though and it's probably my best shot of 2009 so far.
