Incidentally, Carrie Fisher was a highly respected script doctor in Hollywood. When films were being made and looked dodgy or scenes were not working she was brought in to improve them. Apparently one of the best at it.

This is a good point, it's very easy to judge or prejudge someone on only what we see when they are in the limelight or from just their own heydays, but just like some singers, they may have only 1 good hit themselves but then they write many hit songs for lots of other artists, it would seem Carrie was very good and in constant demand as a script doctor and fixer.
