BTW, if you can incur a penalty by touching the top of a blade of grass in a hazard, then why isn't touching your shirt breaking the anchoring rule?
Because its not considered anchoring if your shirts not touching your body,so close to call thou and thats why they have to rely on a players honesty.

Just make it putter needs to be no longer than any other club in your bag, job done

A driver can be 47 inches though. which would still be a pretty long putter. it'd be a broomhandle for me

The worst thing about modern golf is the oversize driver head. This should have been clamped down on before it got out of hand. At least in the pro game.

Guys are still rolling a ball along the floor reading the green using an anchored putter.

With modern drivers the ball is teed up to a frankly ridiculous height and hit into the air an even more ridiculous height. Ruining classic designs and reducing proper skill in doing so.

The way things are going you will soon be able to hit anywhere on the driver face and lose no ball speed.

driver length irrelevant, i said than "any other" or in other words has to be shortest club in bag

OK, maybe a max length of would be easier though say 40 inches.

Altough leaving for 20 years or whatever to do something was probably not the best idea.

not sure it is when you see how they hit a 3 wood that has less than half the cc, strong argument the biggest change is in the ball and ultimately where they should look at limitations

Ive seen how they hit 3 woods off the ground. They are all over the shop with them. Gives me hope. Lol.

Agreed on the ball. Happily see that and the driver reigned in but I think we are past the point of no return.

What's this certain length...?
38"?
40"?
A very tall player with shortish arms ( apart from looking a bit strange) might need a long putter...
I was thinking 40. How long is typical belly putter / broom handle putter / whatever they call them now? Much longer than that surely?

The original video looks bad but only Langer will know for sure. Surely only a matter of time before a TV viewer calls in (isn't that being stopped did I read?) and a rules official is tasked with defining somehow if Langer is touching or not. Can't see how that will be great for the image of the game and I would have though Langer has a pretty decent level of integrity and wouldn't cheat deliberately

I have only seen short glimpses of the video in question. Is it certain, that this is showing his actual shot? Not his practice stroke? Because what he usually does is do a practice stroke anchored to get the feel, then move the hand ever so slightly away from his body and try to recreate the same motion for his actual stroke. So my guess is that this video is maybe showing the practice stroke part of this process? But I might be wrong. I only know the vid out of context.
