An £1100 round of golf

So, I paid my annual subs today £1100. I prefer to think of tomorrow's round costing £1100 and then rest of my golf at home is free - am I just going senile?

I paid £1200 and did my back in on the 2nd hole I'd ever played there.....

paid £1200 the following year too and played 16 rounds.

Now a part-time journey man with a bad back :D

I really do think clubs should be more caring about injuries etc, where they are long term, and serious. I think at least a percentage should be returned.

The course I would like to join is only £575 for the year. I scoffed at it until my good lady reminded me that I spent £2000 on a lens for my £1200 camera two months ago. Yeah that was a silly thing to bring up that day. She would rather I played golf, it's much cheaper.

..and in a similar vein on the micro level - really bugs me when you pay for a round of golf and the club cancels due to weather and offers you another date or a voucher. No - give me my money back.

I'm suprised they can get away with it to be honest, you have paid for a service and they haven't provided it.....

I was going to book a winter game at the London Club a year ago and that was their policy. As the course was closed the day before I asked if I could pay on arrival and they flatly refused - needless to say we went elsewhere.

Part of the price includes handicap tracking. It's part of the silver membership package at pentland golf - which had two courses in Kent.

I'm thinking of joining Pentland Golf for Boughton. I was originally told to not really bother as it can get quite busy at times due to the cheap memberships. Is this really the case?

I would not be able to play golf if those were the fees. Thankfully golf is relatively cheap in Northumberland, most 18 hole parkland courses are between £500-£600. I am very aware of how lucky we are up here regarding memebership fees.

In Edinburgh golf is expensive without a huge amount of quality. I'm £500 a year (under 30s subs) but come next year it's up to £900 for a fairly average course. If I could travel out of town by 10-15 miles I would get some great courses for around £600. Golf all over Scotland is relatively cheap for golf membership, just not in Edinburgh!
