having a low handicap doesn't necessarily make someone a good coach. Coaching like teaching is a very specific skill

I agree. But people find it hard to trust someone who can't do what they're trying to coach. Not just in golf but all forms of coaching from sport to business.

I've always thought there should be a seperate path to becoming a golf coach that doesn't involve playing, basic business or club fitting.
