Get yourself a 50mm f1.8 lens, key in any togs arsenal. Best quality lens for the money ever!

Personally I would say the 35mm f1.8 is better, particularly on a crop sensor, but both are excellent lenses and just cannot be beaten for the money. Getting one or the other is almost a no brainer. To chose which would be best for your personal use, look through the pictures you've taken with the kit lens and check what sort of focal lengths you use most. If nearer 50 get the 50, if more are 35mm or less, get the 35.

The good thing about these lenses is they make you think about composition a little more, realising you can actually move around rather than just zooming in and out.
