All packed for the road trip!!

All ready to go for the 7.30am departure on the lads road trip to the West of Scotland tomorrow!!

Off with Screwback and mates Elvis and Rusty so there should be some decent golf had.

1st up is Glasgow Gailes,a course I aint played but have caddied round in the Tennant Cup a good few years back...really looking forward to that then its off to catch the ferry to Isle of Bute for the overnight stay and a few cheeky wee schnifters.

Up early Saturday to catch the 7.40am ferry to the mainland and drive to catch another ferry across to the Mull of Kintyre and drive down to Machrahanish to play in their Charity Open.....got to say I can't wait for that.
Then its back to Isle of Bute for ales and see if I can keep the lads away from getting lifted by The Craw!!

Sundays sees a 11am game at Rothesay,one of my favourites, before catching the ferry and drive back home.

Hopefully I can capture some photos and post a report when I return!

Course is not too bad considering how much rain, frost and snow it had over the winter.

We had a good spell of rain today which believe it or not the course was needing. The forecast looks good for the weekend however pack some thermals as its to be cooler this weekend.

Hopefully Rothesay will not let you down or disapoint your mates. I finish just after 2200hrs on both Friday and Saturday so start your shenanagens after that. Also give me a phone or a text and I'll hook up for a quick beer or two.

Road trip uddate....Screwback "aced" the par3 6th at Glasgow Gailes today..129yard gap wedge!

Even after I begged a local hotelier to let them in despite the place being full! And I had to run across the square to another pub to get them!

Wow what a wonderful, wonderful trip was had!!

3 very contrasting golf courses and 3 superb road trips with Saturdays 22 hour marathon being the pick!!

Friday saw us playing Glasgow Gailes which is a cracking and bloody tough track,heather and gorse everywhere....Screwback managed a hole in one at the 6th!! A 129 yard Gap Wedge that never looked anywhere else...still he and Rusty still didn't have enough in their locker for the elder statesmen of Dodger and Elvis with Elvis coming alive after shelling 6 balls in the 1st 7 holes and treating as to some monster hitting on the back 9 including a 330 drive to 5 feet at 17 which according to the fellas on the green may have gone in for a 2nd ace had it not hit one of their balls!!

Friday night saw the quiet pint turn into 8 and a pool and darts marathon.

Saturday saw us awake at 5am for the 4 ferry road trip to Machrahanish,after a stop for breakfast at Tarbert we arrived at 10.30.....christ almighty it is in the middle of nowhere but what a track,worth every windy bit in the road....stunning course and we will be going back again that is for sure!!

Screwback took the drive home on to give me a break and after a stop at Kames for bait in a great wee pub we arrived at Colintraive for the ferry..'we have 9 minuted to spare' pipes up Elvis so it was off to the pub for a 6 minute pint!! One of the best pints of Belhaven I have ever had,shame we had to rattle it down the throat so fast as the pub was jumping with a couple of MILF's around too!!

Saturday night saw us head into Rothesay for what has to be one of the best nights I have had in a long long time,Rusty by this time had had 7 pints before he decided it was time to go out and Elvis got the night kicked off by blasting out American Pie....dreadful is not the word but a local summed it up briliantly by saying 'son if you ever come into any money buy yaself some singing lessons!'

Onto another bar with some old female croner singing and a hen party....you get the idea!
I was loving it in there but TheCraw appeared and over to the 'Club' we went to polish off a fine evening which eventually finished off at 3am!

Golf on Sunday was somewhat jaded but Rothesay itself was in decent nick and the views are just to die for.
Whatever you do Craw don't go into the gorse up the right of 7 or you may risk treading in one of Elvis's turds....he manged to hold it in from the 3rd but alas he caved into the need when Rusty produced a napkin he had been nursing a bit of caramel shortbread in!!
