I noticed last night watching the Honda Classic that on one tee (it may be on all) they had cut the grass in narrow parallell strips facing down the line.
If my club did this it would help a lot to line up properly. Far better than picking out a loose tee/divot etc. However it does have the feel of an artificial aid to me.

Sometimes tees are pointing in the direction of trouble... I also think that from a players perspective you would not see the lines. Pick your point in the distance and hit at that

Given that they are probably aiming at a specific side of the fairway, I doubt they would use them even if they could see them. In fact it would probably be confusing .

It certainly wouldn't help me as I'm always aiming to the left of the fairway. If I start it straight I'll probably miss right

I love this - so how does the greenkeeper work out the line that the players want to take, and that they all want to hit it on the same line! I actually struggle on tees where the lines are pronounced as I am almost always hitting at some sort of angle to the stripes and have to almost block out the stripes

Ours rarely point in the direction you're supposed to be playing in.

Would be nice if they did - even a little......

I posted on this recently and the fact that a course I'd played had a tee box pointing 40 yards off the fairway into deep forest and lumber, I was told that was golf?
