While Scotland should (on paper) be beating the likes of Kazakhstan it really doesn't surprise me that we failed and failed spectacularly. Celtic and Aberdeen both played teams from Kazakhstan in the last few years and they are no mugs. They would comfortably hold their own in the SPL which shows how far they have come.

They're also a huge cash rich country now with their oil fields and pay good wages. Almaty is a fantastic modern city with all the facilities. Despite being an artificial surface the stadium that Scotland got pumped in was far superior to anything we have back home.

I don't blame Mcleish. I blame the incompetence within the SFA which has hindered Scottish football and development for years.

I saw that Kazakhstan result and thought, bugger me that's a horror show, who is Scotland's manager now?? So I Google it and lo and behold, it is Alex McLeish.

How in the shuddering hell has he got that job?? Prior to getting it he was unemployed for two years, after having been sacked by an Egyptian club. Before that he had failed in the Belgian league. What possessed the Scottish FA to give him the gig?? That is ridiculous.
