I played the Ailsa today. The weather was great the course was in really good condition the only problem was I played crap.
If there is a better course anywhere in the World I hope I get the chance to play it.
P.S. 3hrs 45mins for a fourball not a world record but very enjoyable.

It's a lovely course but you ask if there are better courses in the world? Yes, it is not quite up there with Royal County Down. I am biased though - still thinking of that amazing links after playing there last week!

Fantastically enjoyable at Ailsa though and nice to get round speedily I am absolutely sure.

Glad you enjoyed it!

I am very jealous. The Ailsa is regularly ranked 1st or 2nd in the UK and the 9th is arguably the most iconic hole on the Open rota (apart from the 17th and 18th at St Andrews). It looked fantastic last year for the Open (on the telly at least). Shame you didn't play well but what a great experience.

agree it is the best course, ive played it loads when i was a junior.(still a young 37) lots of happy memories, used too play the ailsa once a month and the arran every week.yet to play it now im back golfing. we spread my grandfathers ashes round about the rough at the lighthouse. best course in the world imo. good day today for the golf
