Working for the same company...I'd have to say I'm not overly sad to be going as the company is unrecognisable since being sold. As ever it's the people I'll miss but then I've been working from home since March. Plus I've been very part-time for the past few years.

As one door closes though...on 4th Jan I start my new job as a trainee On-Call Firefighter with Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service. I wish @Wolf was still around as he helped me so much during the recruitment process. I failed the overhead lift and was thinking I just didn't have the size to make it but he told me otherwise and set me to pumping some iron. In October I smashed it (y)

Anyway...I'm told the first couple of weeks of training are brutal so hope I survive.

Good luck

That’s a very impressive career change and takes a lot of guts - if you have had to courage to make this career change then the training will be a breeze

Hope it works out well

Hopefully that is a weight lifted off your shoulders.

Best of luck in your new job. I know a couple of people who are on-call firefighters up here, does full time even exist now in rural areas?, and they love it. Tough to get into so well done for that. Something to bring you a smile over Christmas, a new start.

Good luck with the new job sounds like a great move.

Guarantee that in a few weeks you won't give the old place a second thought.

Good luck. Had the same at the beginning of the month when I ended my 33 year career in the RAF. Very weird leaving without a last blowout in the pubs and not having seen my colleagues since March.

Huge respect to you for making that move. Hope all goes well and, most of all, stay safe and enjoy the next chapter.

Thanks for all the best wishes - warms the heart

As for extra yards with the golf clubs - yes! Never been stronger and enjoy the feeling for sure.

Breakfast cereal...that's confused me - although it is concrete so might be appropriate for some of them!!

Good friend of mine was member at Wellingborough and worked just up the road at the cereal factory, was there when they went from being a family firm ;)
