I'm playing well at the moment and have been cut from 27 to 20 in the last month however my bad shots/rounds are all from the same shot.

Basically when i take a shot my whole body twists as if i've finished my swing just as i'm striking the ball meaning the ball can end up anywhere, usually about 100 yds away though.

It only happens with my driver, woods and long irons so i'm pretty sure its just where i'm trying to smash that little white fella too hard. It doesnt happen in a twilight on my own either only when i'm playing with other people.

Is it a timing issue? am i trying to hit it too hard? more importantly does anyone know a good drill to get rid of it?

It sounds like your swinging round yourself.........don't mess about go and see the pro, he will help no end.

Tommo, I think i'll be doing that next week however with a club stableford this weekend I dont want to see him just yet incase he makes any major changes to my swing/stance.

I'm over the range a couple of nights this week, i think its just to do with tempo so will try and fix it myself, if not the pro will be getting a visit next week.

I would suggest it is mainly tempo, as you say. Swing easy.

Why is it so hard to do though? I know i have to put in a nice tempo swing but every now and again i try and smash it.

I guess that question is unanswerable and so practise practise practise is the order of the day.

With the driver or 3 wood pick a distance down the fairway you know you can easily carry without having to rip it, now swing at the tempo that will allow you to carry that distance.

Dont be to ambitious with you distance at first if you normaly can drive 230yrd pick a distance of 200yrds or whatever.

It will give you a good feel for your tempo.
