hi all im doing a trip with a few friends to ayr in a few months some serious golfers some not so dont want to be paying silly prices tend to mix it up abit with some good courses and some middle or road, i was over there in november, and did

turnberry alisa awesome

glasgow gailes wasnt over impressed

dundonald very very good on the list already

western gailes very thick rough and found plenty of it in 40mph winds

others ive been looking at is

west kilbride
irvine bogside
prestwick st nicks
brunston castle
kilmarnock brassie
anybody got any info on these courses and any other gems in area would be very gratefull

St Nicks is superb, you'll struggle to putt on better greens anywhere in Ayrshire. Good course.

West Kilbride is decent enough, I don't really think its as good as some of the Ayrshire links but its a fair test. Great catering in the club.

Bogside, decent track and tough, you need to keep it on the short stuff that's for sure. Its usually in decent condition, in my opinion it could do with a bit more variation in its holes.

Barassie, I had my eyes opened by Barassie this year and I'd recommend it. Good track, very enjoyable links.

I don't know your budget but I'd also look at Troon Portland which is Royal Troons little sister. Its a cracker. I'd also recommend Largs Golf Club ahead of Brunston Castle. Largs is a good track always presented in good condition.
