Mr mimms currently uses Cally Diablo Edge with a stiff graphite shaft.
As a single figure hcp player, his coach has recommended he should switch to bladed irons.

So I've got my eye on his old ones!

Is it cost effective or even sensible to think about having these reshafted to suit me?

I'm intrigued as to why he should be using blades as a single figure handicapper...

Can't comment on how cost effective it would be but there's no reason why they wouldn't be fine for you with appropriate shafts. Lots of mens/womens club differences are just marketing. The right shaft for height and swing speed are the relevant factors.

I might have got the terminology wrong!
All I know is that he is in the market for new shineys...

More likely it went like....

Mr M to coach: I fancy those blades. Do you think I can play them?
Coach to Mr M: Don't see why not. But there's nothing wrong with you current set and long iron Blades are noticeably less forgiving.

Mr M to Mrs M: You know how you've always fancied my irons. My coach is recommending I use Blades. Fancy mine still?

Ladies clubs normally have softer shafts as swing speed tends to be lower. Also often a tad shorter - as Ladies tend to be too, though it's Wrist to Ground distance that governs optimum length.

it wont be cost effective swapping shafts, some good deals out there for ladies sets and ones that would suit you and you like

I'm in this camp

not convinced that ladies version club heads aren't lighter as well

Well, shafts normally are. Missed that out on my earlier post.

However, the lack of many OEMs able to supply 'light' heads, as noted in another thread, would indicate that's not the case - and it's just a case of using lower hosel/tip-weights for Ladies.

Can't you adapt to the clubs?:D

I inherited my first set of clubs from a maiden aunt who was at least six inches shorter than me but that was so long ago I can't remember if I adapted well.

My daughter has played with standard mens clubs since she was 13 years old. She is playing with Diablo Edge irons at the mo.
She is about 5'8'' and a size 8/10 so not exactly muscle bound.

I would try a standard mens shafted iron to see how you like them before you alter your husbands set.

I play with men's clubs although with a senior shaft - they are Pings after all  They were custom fit and an inch shorter than standard. Sounds like a lot of trouble reshafting when they may not be right for you. A new set is the ONLY way forwards :-)
