On the left the latest edition of Golf World. On the right the Open preview edition of Golf Monthly from a couple of months ago.

Naughty Golf World, copying pictures from GM ;)

Think I've mentioned it before but I subscribe to all of the major mags as I'm doing my bit to keep golf journalism alive and kicking. As they all at times do the offers where you get 12 decent balls plus 12 months of the mag for 30 odd quid, or even less. So assuming you would have bought the balls at some time anyway, which the way I lose them I would have done, you effectively get 12 issues for around a fiver.

I also like them for different reasons. I've said it before but GM in the past has been a bit 'fuddy duddy/sit on the fence/all equipment is great' at times, and I think it is aimed at the more traditional elderly golfer. But I think recently it has changed a bit which I like. I do like the equipment tests Todays Golfer do as I am a sucker for a mass equipment test. Plus I like a couple of the writers in Golf World, I think it has a little bit more of a sense of humour and dares to challenge the accepted norm in golf a little bit more, for example it challenged someone at TM on why it has brought out several drivers in one year, instead of just reporting on the latest ones as mostly happens.

And Golf World and Todays Golfer (same publishing company) do 3 balls for £2 offers a bit, so I've had 6 Srixon 333 Tours for £4 plus sleeves of various TM balls (Project As and Lethals) for £2 each, which isn't to be sniffed at.

But of course GM has the best sense of community and forum by a long way (not even sure if the others have such a thing to be honest).;)
