Just thinking what a great format match play is to watch. I know that pros and sponsors seem to prefer the usual 72 hole stroke play and OK, the big names can go out early, but the matches last night were really great with lots going to extra holes and the Poulter/Cink and Tiger/Bjorn matches especially making fascinating viewing.

If it had been round 1 of a normal event I probably wouldn't have bothered watching so much of the coverage. Looking forward to tonight especially Rose/Kaymer, Donald/Molinari and Mickelson/Fowler.

Just wonder what others think.

Agree 100%, there should be more match play tournaments. It grabs your attention from the first day whereas i'm normally only interested in the last day of a stroke play tournament.

I much prefer watching match play.

However, it can get a bit flat if the final is two numpties no one is interested in.

Also, they need to stop showing the whole of JBs pre putt routine. They could show a lot more golf if that prat got a wriggle on.

If only it wasnt televised by american tv

Haha. The truth!

At least Tiger's out so the coverage won't be solely concentrating on his round.

I'm just wondering when I'm going to find a spare 7 hours each day until sunday to watch the rest of the coverage!

.....

And it will make you have to try harder to crowbar your dislike of him into another thread.

JB Holmes is a shocker, surely he is over time on EVERY single shot he hits?? Do they publish bad time penalties and fines anywhere??

It may not sound like it, but I actually like Tiger and still like watching him play (sometimes).

But the Golf Channel (especially) seem hell bent on showing nothing but Tiger, except for the odd cut to see Justin Rose miss a 4 footer.

I can understand when he was invincible, he was the golfer everyone wanted to see, but I'd rather even coverage showing the key points from every match.

JB Holmes should be banned from tour for slow play. I bet anyone that gets drawn with him gives the same "oh GREAT! It's going to be a long day" reactions.

Watching the World Matchplay at Wentworth is what got me into golf 30 years ago. You can't beat it for watchability. Shame that tourny is a shadow of it's former self. But at least we have the Accenture now with it's better field.

And Holmes. Yeah, nightmare. Has always been.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Trouble is if Michelson gets knocked out by Fowler today they will probably just cancel any further coverage. :D

I remember last year's final. Poults vs Casey, they spent more time showing the runners up game with Villegas in it.

Do what I did, start it recording 15 or 30 minutes before you start watching,, you can then fast forward through some of the crap.....

What and still miss seeing the Thomas Bjorn chip at the 19th. Despite the fact that there was only 1 other game being played at that time.
